If I were a B's fan I would be pretty pissed off but they also had plenty of opportunity to score. Bottom line is you're not going to win scoring 1 goal so yea it sucks but go out and score 3 or 4 and win the game.

Believe me I get it, I am a Flyers fan and to this day I get annoyed thinking about the 1980 finals, game six, the goal that was offsides by three feet.

rfuerst911sc 06-07-2019 11:57 AM

Each team has 60 minutes to beat the other . Ref's are human and make mistakes . You play until you hear the whistle . Bad calls and missed calls happen on both sides . Yes it sucks but it will never be eliminated unless you instant replay every questionable call ........ the game would be 3 hours long .

Both teams now reset and give it another go . Game 5 is in the rearview mirror .

Very very entertaining series of good tough hockey.

Por_sha911 06-07-2019 06:07 PM

No comments on missed calls. It is what it is and all the whining will not change the outcome.

I am sad to say I think this is a 6 game series.
The Bruins blue line is too beat up and the Blues have the B's number when it comes to power plays.

It looks like another suspension doled out the morning after on another non-call during the game.

Barbashev suspended for Game 6.

For the shoulder to the head after the high stick?

I am going to take the high road like Joe, it was an entertaining game to watch.

It's pretty disappointing that some of the great story lines are being overshadowed by some of the calls in each round.

It'll be interesting to see how the Bruins respond Sunday. When the Blues got burned in the San Jose series the coach basically said move on, nothing we can do. Boston's coach kind of went the other way in his postgame. :)

Chara playing in Game 5 should have been a huge boost but instead it seemed to result in all of the lines being thrown in a blender over and over. Also the Blues have been masterful at shutting down the top 2 Boston lines through the first 5 games at even strength. Cassidy today said they could still pull this off even without his top lines producing, but I think at this point it wouldn't hurt to lightly call them out and see if they respond. Not much to lose for them at this point. Berube gave Tarasenko a nudge early in the playoffs and it really got him going.

In the end I hope to see the Blues skating their first cup Sunday night. :D

From 4/24 (and one of the few times I got some things right)

In the meantime, fun facts (some more fun than others)...

-As always, the goalies made the difference. Depth players also.
-As always, everyone complains about the officiating (unless they are winning).
-As always, there are less penalties called (you gotta love that)...

One more rambling thought. As good as Rask was last night, he's still no Tim Thomas.

Here's more about officiating:

and I still miss Tim Thomas

A quirky fact - in the first 4 games - the team which scored 2 goals were the losers until game 5.
Somewhere, some analytics type is no doubt trying to incorporate this oddity into his perception of a
meaningful stat into his data base.

The Corsica will soon incorporate what time the player brushed his teeth and if they use hair gel as well...

Wrong calls or missed calls... Wrong calls have plagued the playoffs and lead to a few goals. Missed calls have not lead to any goals but certainly missed opportunity.

It is fun watching the Bruins play a team that is out "Bruining" them.... :)

Great series though, one of the most entertaining is some years. 2 Very good teams. Whoever wins will deserve the cup.

Cheers

Bruins are the underdog tonight. IF they somehow win this one then game 7 is a toss up.

Por_sha911 06-09-2019 02:38 PM

Another commentary about the officiating:
https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2019/06/09/bruins-blues-cup-final-game-6-could-hinge-on-officiating/

the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins are so tight that Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final is absolutely in danger of hinging on officiating.
Here's a key statement:
Quote:

There have been enough gaffes in all four rounds that no team can reasonably think the officials are biased against them. Mistakes happen, of course, even if that doesn’t make it sting any less after a blown call contributes to a loss.

flatbutt 06-09-2019 06:12 PM

Man 0 / 4 PP isn't gonna git it.

Wow what a Broonsplosion! Gentlemen fasten your seatbelts, we got us a game 7!!

Por_sha911 06-09-2019 07:24 PM

Looks like first goal makes the difference once again. I am totally stunned that Rask wasn't named #1 star of the game. He should be MVP. Now if I could just remember who scored that first goal... Rats! I can't seem to remember. :D

Game 7: We'll find out who wants it more.

Random question: does an empty net goal count in the GAA stats?

billybek 06-09-2019 07:34 PM

One game series.
Can't ask for more than that!

Por_sha911 06-09-2019 07:39 PM

Sure you can. Just one more win :D

In my dream, Pasta to Bergie to Marchand in front of the Blues goal. Marchand scores and goes flying through the air in celebration. Boston erects a second statue.

No, but they are charged against him as an ENG, empty net goal.

I am not a Bruin fan, but if I was, I would likely share this thought..... :)

Will be a great final game. A game 7 in the finals means that the best teams from each conference made the final dance...

Cheers
