The Islanders and Blue Jackets are playing over their heads which is exactly what makes playoff hockey so exciting . Regular season stats mean nothing . Good for them . Vegas tied their series wow this is good stuff !!!

The first 5 minutes of the Bruins/Leafs game looks like 1970's hockey. Wow.

Por_sha911 04-13-2019 07:03 PM

Bruins/Leafs tonight were Rockem Sockem hockey all the way.
Looks like Kadri bought himself some time off with the crosscheck with intent to injure. I'm thinking 3 or 5 games.
Anderson kept the game 4-1 instead of 8-1. Outstanding performance.

You gotta love the playoffs. So many things going on at once.
Fun facts:
Game 3's means a change of home ice. Let's see what happens now.
Columbus won their first two on the road last year but then lost the next 4 in a row. Let's hope they don't fall apart again and give Tampa a run for their money (and Tampa will be without Kucherov for one game).
Also what about the Pens? Down 2-zip.
Looks like Krug got his bell rung tonight. The B's may be calling up a D man.

That was nasty. Certainly didn't help his team.

The referees are letting so much go.
The players are enforcing their own version of the rules.

Por_sha911 04-13-2019 07:28 PM

1970's all over again. Ain't it great?

beatnavy 04-14-2019 04:30 AM

Kadri has a well deserved rep. Bruins bounced right back.

It's funny how each series can take twists and turns with one victory. Canes, Pens, Jets, Bolts look like they're on the ropes right now, but the change of ice, as Por-Sha911 says, can completely change things. Or not. I predict the Bolts will wake up in a big way away from home.

I haven't been able to watch as much as I'd like right now. Moved into a new house on Friday, and that is distracting me. At least it has a big garage ;)

I've believe I've seen this movie a few times before: playoffs = refs seemingly forget when to use their whistles!

Cheers
JB

Caveat: The Kadri incident is totally unacceptable & worthy of more than a couple of games - in my opinion

stomachmonkey 04-14-2019 10:51 AM

Islanders!

3-0 in the series.

Nice

The Islanders are in the groove at the moment good for them . Been a long time since they have played this well .

so enjoying the Isleys good run,,,especially over the Pens. If Cindy et al come back from this I'll never call him Cindy again.

I promised to be civil so I'll hold off on comments about the Isles being up 3-0.

Bolt (down 0-2) playing now and they don't have home ice, don't have Kucherov (1 game), don't have Hedman (don't know why). Lets see what happens.

The Bolts have a steep hill to climb and about 20 minutes to do it, or they can pretty much start making golf reservations for next week.

Fun facts about the Presidents Trophy:
-The last FIVE winners DIDN'T make it to the cup finals.

-2006-2012 FOUR winners were knocked out in the first round.

-Since 2006 only TWO winners have won the cup.

And, my favorite:
The Bruins beat the Presidents Trophy winning Canucks in 2011!

I put Tampa in the finals in my brackets but, as I stated earlier, all the previous history goes out the window when the "second season" starts.
There has been some really good hockey being played even if the outcomes weren't what we expected.

Brian 162 04-14-2019 05:38 PM

It looks like the Pens and the Bolts are in quite a pickle, both down 3 games.

Por_sha911 04-14-2019 05:55 PM

Just out of curiosity, did anyone from Tampa touch the Presidents Trophy?

In other news, Kadri is having an in-person hearing with the Dept of Safety. That means they are considering a suspension of more than 5 games. He was suspended 3 last year so I think he may have an extended vacation.

911 Rod 04-15-2019 05:37 AM

I don't thing anyone, including the Bolts, saw this coming.
And ya, that was a dick move by Kadri.

rfuerst911sc 04-15-2019 05:43 AM

Playoff hockey it just doesn't get any better . It may be time to get out a few brooms , that's what happens when you read and believe the press clippings :D Tampa showed some life yesterday especially early 3rd period but couldn't buy a goal . That's the way it goes .

Vegas looks like they may be hitting their stride but we'll see . Jets stayed alive some good stuff going on . Pens leaving early won't break my heart ;)
