I’m Actually getting tired of the overplayed “Darwin” thing.

There isn’t a single one of us that has not done a potentially life threatening event in our past.

Yesterday I hopped off a three foot wall with my mtn bike. At the moment, i was doing something I loved. My jacked up retarded landing quickly had me reconsidering my hobby. I did not “ stick the landing”. I didn’t crash, but let’s just say, next time I’m taking the bunny slope that goes around.

Race cars, bikes, motorcycles, skateboards. Big wave surfed all around the world. Dive, sail (Blue water) raced boats, water ski, drive to work on 405 FWY.

Life is a risk.

We are all gonna die.

Get use to that idea.

People who take unnecessary risks have a higher likelihood for injury or death.
If they do it before they are old enough to reproduce, they take themselves out of the gene pool. Natural selection.
People who do risky things at an older age don't necessarily fall into the same category but they can still serve as an example for the rest.

What is considered "unnecessary" is debatable.
I went into a profession that was known as neing "dangerous" but I considered it a necessary risk. The compensation was very good, the opportunities were very good, it was worth the risks because it allowed me to provide well for my family.
Now if at the time I had done something risky outside of work that could have prevented me from providing for my family, well that wouldn't be very smart at all. Unnecessary.

BTW I never said that natural selection was a BAD thing.

How about a dangerous pet? Something large, that eats small mammals, and has razor sharp claws???

Snakes, crocodiles? Nah too common - and they are SLUGGISH in the winter...

90 percent (I just made up that number) of deaths are from a bad decision. From keeping a dangerous pet, eating too much, drinking too much, too sedentary of a lifestyle, to enjoying a risky activity.

Death. I just think it’s low hanging fruit to throw out that Darwin thing. It was funny for the first decade.
