My kid turned me onto so many songs as I aged. Short list:

Killing in the name
Trailer park girls go round the outside
Duality

Found this on my own.......

I saw them on The Steel Wheels tour at the Georgia Tech stadium around 90 or so.

I’d see them again if they played close by.

Edit. Just checked. They are playing Jax FL 7/19. Hmmm...

In 1972 the Stones substituted energy for intensity that they couldn't keep up and by 1975 they were bloated and sloppy Jet Setters riding high on the past acclaim.

So here it is the opening concert on the 1969 tour where you hear Jagger cajole and growl like Lucifer himself while Richards riffs sound like a howl from Hell and Taylor's soaring counterpoint sounds like a heavenly choir. But what made this tour extraordinary were the introduction of the songs Jumping Jack Flash, Stray Cat Blues, Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter and Midnight Rambler that crossed and recrossed the line between sanity and madness*. For much of this materiel's genesis came from the swirling emotional chaos wrought by the disintegration of Brian Jones, the Stones drug busts and the uncertainty about the bands future. So when you hear these songs please remember his name for after this tour the "little twerp"** didn't think he was Lucifer anymore.

* Even Jagger said that whenever they played Sympathy the audience would get "weird"

** Ry Cooder once said, "That the little twerp sic Jagger thinks that he is Lucifer."
The Stones were in Chicago in 69. They played at the International Amphitheater (long gone). The opening act was Chuck Berry. 1969 - a very good year for Rock and roll.

One of my Jax buddies is going with his wife....she wasn't around for the old Gatorbowl back in '90...so-so show imo. Ten years later (Voodoo Lounge)...they freakin' ROCKED Raleigh's Carter-Finley....almost ran over my sorry azz in their limo leaving (fireworks raining down on us) back of stsge...show at Duke was awesome too.

Go....

Apparently Bobby was quite a wild man. I'm guessing he earned his liver disease.

The Stones have sounded great both times I've seen them previously. Of course, any band that has 11 great musicians in it will sound good.

Yes a wild man. You can finish his autobiography in one evening and it’s pretty entertaining

Went to the Thursday show. Great show. I liked the 2015 show I saw a little better but still had a great time. Metlife stadium was nice, crowd was great, weather great.

Very stripped down stage show and straight ahead rock and roll show

And got to introduce my wife to my 2 happy places, McSorley’s and Katz’ Deli

Glad to hear they sounded good. I've seen video from the tour and really like the stripped down instrumentation. And Mick--still has it. Taking my son next week. Paid a cool $1K for the tickets. Because Keef.

Review
The Rolling Stones rocked MetLife again (night 2 review, setlist, videos)

I definitely agree about it being loud and hard hitting. Just like 4 years ago, it was very loud and nice and clear. I’ve been to many a stadium show going back to the mid 80s and it’s amazing how far the tech has come

The guys next to me were saying how loud the opening band was. I told them, nah, you will be blown out of your seat when you see how much louder the stones are. Sure enuff, after that always thrilling “ladies and gentleman, the r o l l i n g S t o n e s” ........BAM! In your face 10x louder rock and roll. Just thinking about it a week later gets me emotional 😭

Wish I could post videos here

We sought shelter . . .

Found it.

60,000 people sang along with the eerie intro to "Gimme Shelter." Mick pranced and danced his little pig heart out. Keith, existing in his own little bubble, said "I wrote this ****ing song, so I'll play it however I want." Ronnie held it all together while Keith ruminated. And Watts was his usual cannon behind the kit.

Mick told us the Stones first played Seattle in 1965. Imagine.

Awesome. Did Keith do Happy? Unfortunately for me he didn’t this time. But oddly enough he wore the same green shirt from the last tour

I hope there’s a another tour soon

Yes--Keith did Happy. Also did You Got the Silver, which is a great song.

The sound was good, not great. I paid to get good seats in front of the stage because the sound in Century Link is usually pretty bad. It was specifically designed to be a loud football stadium. Mick said he had heard that it was the loudest NFL stadium, and we all tried to prove it.

Sound quality has certainly improved over the 50 years I've been going to concerts. The stacks of speakers keep getting smaller, and the sound keeps getting better.

Yea you got two great Keith songs

I’m a wanderer and luckily my wife doesn’t mind. No matter how good the seats, we keep sneaking around till we find the best possible sound. Makes for sore legs the next day but I love seeing and hearing the different perspectives from all over the stadium

Well cool. Glad you liked it
