A lot like watching Tucker fly. Maybe not quite as energetic, but still entertaining.

For those of you that went to shows years ago, Leo Loudenslager was an awesome performer in his little modified Stephen's Acro known as the Bud Light Laser 200.

I had a big hand in getting this cockpit to the fleet - for the new Naval R and S H-60's.

Only got to fly it once!

Well I can share a little about TFR's that might help. First off if you see smoke tell ATC that is usually the first chance to get a response going. ATC has a list of phone numbers for reporting fires. The next action will probably be an airborne "air boss" in either a be55 or an OV10 heading to the scene asap they usually are at 5500 to 8500 msl unless the smoke/terrain pushes them higher. They will assess the TFR needs and gets that called in and implemented- it can take a little while from fire start to actually getting a TFR up and running. The response can be anything from a few helicopters to DC10 tankers and C130's. the nuts and bolts. The only aircraft on the approach control freq. is the air boss and he is on multiple radios coordinating the fight and sometimes the fixed wing aircraft while transiting to/ from the staging airport to the TFR are on freq.but that is more the exception than the rule, just listening on approach freq. may help some but you are far better off asking for flight following. Trust me 95% of approach controllers will gladly provide the service the other 5% just suck.

Buddy is out of town helping move his daughter to NY for her Doctorate program she was accepted to, so I thought I would surprise him by doing some work on his gear legs.

Made a new friend at our/my local airport. It was a double win. Especially since he drove by in this....

Very nice guy who spent some of his busy time talking two of my passions. Porsche n planes.
Very cool since it is the same year as our(projects). 1968 912.

Ok, triple win since he let me drive it around the airport. Something I haven’t even been able to do in ours.

In 1967, while hiking around in the thick brush on the north end of Saipan Island my brother and I came across the remains of a Curtiss SB2C Helldiver. It was broken in two with the tail section about 100 feet away from the rest of craft.

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out what aircraft? Give it a try.

Arrived in the mail yesterday. Looks like it’s got some good chit in this issue.

Also, if anyone(like me) is new to full time ForeFlight usage, and basics class is being at the Napa Airport. Many, many, many hours away for me due to the bloody levels of traffic.

Thought about peddling the 150 over but the WX will be the wildcard. Pesky fog deck is unpredictable this time of year.

Found this too if anyone is interested.

Those pics are from 1967??? That’s awesome, wonder if anything is left today. We have a B-17 buried in the hills between us and Tahoe. Haven’t seen yet.

That is so interesting - do you mind sharing how you were on Saipan?

Did you write down the BuNo or tail number?

First landing of Fire Scout - all autonomous:

I'll go with F-15 and your avatar as the clue.

I’m saying an F-18. Tailhook in the middle removes the Air Force.

My family was living on Guam at the time. We took a long weekend to fly up to Saipan to tour the old battle sights. I had to miss a day of school due to the limited flight schedule on Trust Territory Airlines and my home room teacher gave me an unexcused absents. All my other teachers blew it off as they figured it was educational. I checked the area on Google Earth and it does not appear to be anything there anymore. We could see it from the overlook at Suicide Cliff down in the trees below at the time. Did not wright down any numbers or anything.
