We've had gun violence in movies for almost as long as movies have existed. Plenty of westerns, horror flicks, mobster flicks, cop flicks, etc.

The depiction of "splattered brains" in films has been around for 60+ years. Some of the most gory of the bunch came from the 60's/70's.

I pretty much think the same with regard to the influence of video games, violent movies, etc., but one thing that is very different now than to how it was back in the day is teens' (even much younger than that, really) ready, easy and free access to the hardest of hardcore porn - much of which is extremely violent toward women. I wonder what type of impact that is having on the minds of young males, as everyone must know that they are looking at it like crazy (very easy to hide that sort of activity from parents, no matter how smart the parents think they are).

So then you do favor banning the next consensus favorite?... because there will be a next.... and a next... and a next.... you might as well turn in that pistol you said you own now. How about addressing the real problems?

Obviously the answer is to ban fertilizer, pipes, and pressure cookers too. Because when bad things happen, there MUST be a way to put a ginormous prophylactic on the world via more laws, more bans on things people do, and more government in general just because, "government". Never mind the fact that there will always be bad and dangerous people. The bubble world ideal just sounds soooo much like being back in the womb it must be good, right? Riiiiighht?

Weren't many of youse non-Obama-groomers convinced that he was inciting tension, unrest and outright violence with his various comments? How is the bombast that comes farting out of President Trump any different in that regard (doesn't it likely motivate some people to take their penchant for jackassery to the next level - not talking about motivating the far left to act like braying donkeys, as that Trump-effect is obvious :))?

The list does not include those shootings where no one will speak to police.

At least 20 of the mass shootings this year were in Chicago, Illinois.

More than 140 mass shootings are unsolved largely because no one will give descriptions to the police.

Well, so much for the theory that it’s a crime committed predominately by young white males.

The media is wrong again!

.33 x 8 @ 1100 to 1600 fps.. Figure it out. It's more lethal in a close quarters situation than a single bullet and the shooter would have to fire about 8 times to equal what would be shot per trigger pull through a semi automatic shotgun. An AR is not the most effective tool.

Are you suggesting one pellet of buck can do the same damage as a 7.62 or .223 rifle round?

I surely hope not.

Shaun’s comments are childish and emotional. Worse than useless. Beneath this entire thread and that includes virtually everyone on it.

And yet, not a single one of those countries has the same epidemic of mass shootings as we do. Not a single one.

After Great Britain began enforcing gun bans, check out what happened knife murders - Wow!

:D really?

The point is, guns are not the problem.

Well, I suppose that one could conclude that a lack of guns is a problem.

I will also note that part of the anti-gun reaction is because individuals really do NOT want to feel like they need to carry a gun. I get that. I mean, what a pain. We pay police to do that for us.

I'm just saying, I do have respect for those who don't want the hassle and choose not to carry. I have more respect for those who do carry. And low respect for those who complain that no one should have that right. --that is simply not realistic.

If there was an equally easy to get and use alternative that had similar killing power, then yes, I would want to ban that. But no such thing currently exists, and the possibility that one may be developed can be addressed when and if it happens.

Until then, tell me why the gun hobby (which is what we're talking about here) is worth more than the lives that were lost even this last weekend.

How many were lost in mass knifings in Britain this year? Hundreds? Did they have multiple mass knifings with dozens of victims in a single weekend?

You can't pass laws that completely prevent violence, but you sure as hell can diminish the ability of bad people to commit it on a mass scale.
