Once again, the OT liberals that so detest politics (damn PARF) once again cannot let a tragedy go to waste and start their political rants....blaming their political foes vice the actual perpetrator. Soon, they will get hurt feelings because their arguments suck (largely devoid of facts and reason) and they will call for a moderator to intervene. How cute.
Nothing sadder than a bunch of self-loathing old white guys blaming being white (and /or some sort of inanimate object) for some atrocity. Racism and bigotry IMHO. When postulating the difference between today and previous generations...blaming race or the availability of legal guns is obviously not rational as there is less availability of legal guns/ammo in this nation today than any time in my life. There have always been mass murders....using everything from knives/guns to cars and pressure cookers. Even aircraft. The thing that has changed is the culture. Computer gaming and TV/movies with heroes that have loose morals...and a proliferation of psychotropic drugs. An entire generation (or three) have been raised on them (as a coping mechanism). Plenty of access to guns since this country was founded. Country boys always had guns and were taught to use/respect them. To them, killing things is a serious business and final. Current shooters are sissified city boys playing out some video game that resets in the end and you get another game. They are just trying to get a piece of the media fame they prize because mommy and daddy don't love them (and because the everyone gets a trophy stuff ended when they became young adults). |
Here's a crazy idea! How about rather than trying to blame Trump, people suggest things that might actually prevent this kind of thing from happening? You know... rather than play politics with this, average people come together and makes suggestions. I know... talking here won't get it done but rather than blame one side or the other, it would be a hell of a lot more productive as well as less divisive.
Some good things have been touched on here... right up until politics entered the discussion. Why not focus on and expand upon that? |

Nearly all of these mass shootings have been done by young men that are isolated or have been disassociated from greater society, and are typically described as being loners. This has been going on since the 1980's and it seems to be accelerating. On-line everything serves in many cases as a complete substitute for the binding institutions of society like church, social organizations, clubs, local sports leagues, etc,, even the family unit. Many of them find each other on line and self-reinforce their crazy thoughts and anger at society in general. I don't see this getting any better anytime soon, it will probably get much worse. I also don't see any answer as resources of a cohesive society shrink away. More government programs will have no real effect except spend more money on the wrong things.
Just a lot of cynical politicians making political hay on the mess. And taking all the guns and ammo is a silly idea considering US history and the overwhelming number of guns freely circulating in this country. It is clearly impossible and not worthy of serious discussion and a complete waste of time except to push another agenda. The problem is the young men afflicted by their self-destructive personalities. |
I haven't read most of this thread....but I'll say this....when 30-60 rounds are regularly unloaded into a house here now...even if no one is killed...
That's a mass shooting :( Local university homecomings lately...somebody's probably gonna get shot that night....at a party :(. We have a people problem, we have a psych med problem, we have a gun problem, we have a media problem, we have a political problem...like never in my lifetime imo....and here we are :(. I'm sure I forgot a few too...oh yeah...social media :( Freakin' Russians or China...why not? |

Nick, that is just crazy talk. Dad, also cray, cray. Pretty sure that makes me also crazy, but not criminally insane. Do you see the difference there Denis?

You guys are winning this discussion, as long as you get to score yourselves. You know, using PARF rules.

A couple weeks ago, I was saying and writing that Trump has the next election in the bag. Now I’m not so sure with his mouth and twitter finger out of control. He might beat himself yet.
