Quantum Computing

It may be impossible but I wonder if a brainium here can explain to me in normal Engrish what quantum computing is.

The monster of AI coupled with quantum computing (whatever that is) seems to me to have the potential of really screwing humanity up way worser than it already is and sooner rather than later.

In todays memory and CPU's,,, a digital Bit can only be a 1 or a 0. it's on,,, or off.

In Googles new Quantum CPU, that 1 or 0 bit can be both at the same time. wild !!!

I do know that quantum computing has been a dream for many years. Kinda like nuclear fusion or real intelligent computing. "Very soon" it just needs more research.

Someday, it likely will happen. It is far more likely than cold fusion.

Now I just hafta do this....I reckon.

In layman's terms: They used to be male bits...now they are female bits

Great, so now I'm never going to get a strait answer from a computer either.

Yep, it will just say it is "fine" when you know something is wrong.

Maybe an example of what it can do will help. If you try to solve a puzzle maze, you sort of follow one path at a time until you find a way out.

The quantum computer will try every possibility instantaneously and provide an answer (well, a probability for the most likely answer)..... instantly.

Will also render all current computer password algorithms useless since it can test every possibility at one time- except for quantum encryption - For more info look for "BB84").

Truly amazing stuff.

Wait, so computers are female now, like on Star Trek.

The only thing more fascinating and mysterious than quantum computers are biological ones. And they’ve been around a long time.

you didn't add the extra bit for the check sum validation .

So, like, instead of like filling up a barrel by throwing in one BB at a time, QC is, like, throwing all of 'em in at once?

BB84 is a quantum key distribution scheme developed by Charles Bennett and Gilles Brassard in 1984. It is the first quantum cryptography protocol. The protocol is provably secure, relying on the quantum property that information gain is only possible at the expense of disturbing the signal if the two states one is trying to distinguish are not orthogonal (see no-cloning theorem) and an authenticated public classical channel. It is usually explained as a method of securely communicating a private key from one party to another for use in one-time pad encryption.

OH I see...
