Then why isn't Ferrari more successful and why did Toyota flop?

Not sure I agree. I have participated in many teams that full funding and still couldn't figure it out. Leadership is key and the commitment to the team dynamic. Sounds like Toto has developed a team that is fully integrated and committed. Money provides a platform but does not indicate success. Look at Ferrari. They have the funds and can't get out of their own way

In my opinion Toyota tried to do everything the Toyota way and were too stubborn to listen . Add to that they had the wrong Schumacher behind the wheel , Rolf never could provide feedback to the engineers like his brother .

Modern day Ferrari have moments of brilliance but not by design it's probably luck . Their pit/race strategy is pathetic but it is the red prancing horse way

Yup, so contrary to stealthn's, opinion, it takes more than cubic megabucks to attain success in F1. It's very important, no doubt, but not the only factor.

Wouldn't agree it's 100%, maybe more like 50/50

Not worked at Mercedes but worked with and know lots of people there, not heard of anyone being sacked for making a mistake. Have worked at Ferrari and saw quite few people made an example of. Hopefully Binotto will drive this culture out of the team as for me the blame culture is one of the main differences between Mercedes and Ferrari. The other main difference is Maranello is isolated from the majority of the F1 talent gene pool so not the same influx of fresh ideas/working methods coming in to the team

Sorry, bit slow on answering your previous post,

Racing Point will have made a lot of teams sit up and take notice. They won't have done anything illegal, just used the same approach as Haas and Ferrari

It's not hard to copy a competitors car, plenty of 'spy' photos to scale from and turn into 3D shapes.

Racing Point's car is tested in one of Mercedes's wind tunnels so I'm sure they will have received some good advice on which route to take while developing their own aero package

Toto and Stroll are best 'investment' buddies so it makes for a good partnership

Renault now need to do something similar with McLaren otherwise they risk being left behind in the development war between the manufacturers

All good points guys

Culture is the one thing you can't buy your way out of unless it's the head of ops or someone you can replace (money), but ingrained culture and holier than thou attitudes from the company and chiefs down can and does ruin a team (Ferrari example is a good one)

Modena is one of the quarantined provinces, but Scuderia Ferrari is allowed to leave. WTF!

I’m assuming Pirelli has to get a wavier as well.

Twitter reports emerging about Albert Park hotel having cases of COVID19, and 3x F1 personnel feeling sick and in self-imposed quarantine (one from McLaren plus two from Haas - hopefully Grosjean's tire changers ;-)... I hope they race anyway and don't cancel at the last minute - spectators or not... An F1 race would cheer me up and they're already there anyway... The rest of the quarter looks bleak...
Australia just banned all italians coming in, but everyone is already there...

Hoping for a resurgence of Renault this year just because Helmut Marko gave them so much crap... (and Ricciardo and Ocon are decent guys, and the new engine seems bulletproof)

McLaren has withdrawn from Melbourne. A crew member was diagnosed positive with the virus.

Does that mean the whole show is off? "If one team can't participate, then no one will..."

Or does the show go on, because the intent of that proclamation last week was aimed towards travel restrictions, and McLaren was able to transport the team to Australia--but they withdrew once they had already arrived?

Lewis thinks it's silly that the race will go on. Verstappen says it's perfectly safe and reasonable to go on.

It's toast... Not because McLaren withdrew but because they're sending the signal that's the right thing to do, and political pressure will only increase.... $%$#%, that season starting was my one ray of sunshine in an otherwise ****ty year so far... $$#%, $%$#%, $%$#% !!!
