In some good news, maybe Gulf back on board with McLaren?

Hahaha.... (fake Steiner account but always funny)

mattdavis11 07-24-2020 06:35 AM

No F1 in Austin this year.

Shouldn't there be some mid season BOP adjustment to slow down the Mercedes cars. F1 has really become a monotonous parade for the German powerhouse team. This season will need a full page of footnotes after the final standings are posted. DP

akkkkk! Not those letters, ever. I get that F1 is mostly dull at the point. But BOP is a hornets nest of reducing racing to pure entertainment. At least in a spec series everyone has the same stuff, BOP is an artificial joke.

astrochex 07-24-2020 04:01 PM

BOP is when you get caught breaking the rules. Complaints from another team seems to be the primary way that process starts.

So Perez is out of at least one (possibly both) british GPs due to testing positive to Covid on a second test (first was inconclusive). Too bad it wasn't Hamilton, might have made for a fun race...

Not that I blame Lewis, F1's been like that a lot of years, if you took out the #1 driver int he past 20y, F1 would be damn close !

Captain Ahab Jr 07-30-2020 12:49 PM

This is very cool, I'm really warming to Norris, last race he helped his mechanics strip down and pack the car up. Kudos to McLaren for letting him do it

Internet chatter is saying Hulkenberg may fill in for Perez this weekend .

Deschodt 07-30-2020 01:33 PM

Please let it be George Russell ! We know what Hulk, guttierez etc are worth... Although vandoorne - might deserve a second shot...

yellowperil 07-31-2020 06:10 AM

It's Hulk

and I hope he scores a WIN here!

rfuerst911sc 07-31-2020 06:37 AM

The rumor was accurate Hulkenberg got the call . He passed the Covid test and 15 minutes before first practice got in the car and was 9th fastest . Not bad considering the situation . I hope he has a clean qualifying and race .

bkreigsr 07-31-2020 07:16 AM

Looks like everyone has jacked up their rears for Silverstone.
What's up with that ?

Also they are all using smaller brake packages, which I understand.

Hulk has never gotten a decent car. Hope he does well.

Agreed. That's why it'll be interesting to see how he does. He'll have a lot less seat time in the car than Stroll, but it'll be interesting nonetheless.

George Russell is another that would have been interesting. IIRC he was at an end-of-season test in a Mercedes, and put in a top-3 time. So he's definitely got skills beyond what the Williams will let him show.

Captain Ahab Jr 07-31-2020 08:37 AM

He was complaining his ass had gone numb during free practice today :D

Hah. I was wondering what the problem was. The article I read just said he complained of discomfort from the seat and had to come in after 22 laps.

rfuerst911sc 07-31-2020 12:45 PM

Stroll set the fastest time in FP2 today Hulkenberg was 7th fastest . Albon crashed but had great pace. Leclerq was top five with Vettels team struggling to get the car to run . Williams fighting for last row .

chapo 07-31-2020 06:35 PM

How does Grosjean keep his ride? Don’t get it.

Question of the year right there !!! In my opinion he brings nothing to the team of any value :(

rfuerst911sc 08-01-2020 07:01 AM

Mercedes is in such a zone they only lose if they beat themselves . Must be tough to be any of the other teams to keep pushing knowing you are spending so much $$$ but can only get so close .

astrochex 08-01-2020 12:40 PM

^Its amazing they have increased the advantage they already had. And I would not be surprised if they have even more speed if they need to use it.

He brings whining, crashing, and embarrassment to the team. So you can’t say he brings nothing.

yellowperil 08-02-2020 03:38 AM

My wish list for today's GP. Ham, Vettel, and Hulk, on the podium in any order.

Ahh but you missed where I said " of any value " 😁 . But he does bring to the team what you stated . I really hope Haas signs the accord , cleans house of both drivers and resets and moves forward .

Towards the end of last season, he brought in a new sponsor. I think that saved his bacon.

ryanjboutin 08-02-2020 04:12 AM

Wildest dreams.

Vettel / Hulk for Haas 2021.

You heard it here first, folks.

rfuerst911sc 08-02-2020 05:02 AM

Wow Hulkenberg can't catch a break ☹️

ryanjboutin 08-02-2020 06:43 AM

RBR made a mistake by pitting Max, banking on Lewis pitting.
Wrong move.

and then, hold on.

Love that 20/20 hindsight.

Thanks to Pirelli for creating drama.

Hamilton did a great job maintaining the car after the tire failed.

The rest of the race was boring except for Haas drivers screwing up.

Hamilton gets to win with one full lap and just three tires.

URY914 08-02-2020 09:08 AM

I thought the superimposed driver info on the in-car camera views was pretty cool.

astrochex 08-02-2020 10:05 AM

What happened to Hulk? I missed it.
