You can and they're made in China. You'd think the quality would be awful but honestly not bad at all.
A friend recently restored an MG using Chinese sourced rubber bits. No problems at all but long term, who knows? That aside why would you spend any significant money on the aesthetics of this car? Get it running properly and enjoy it as is.

The triple SU carb setup was not standard. It was only standard on XKEs and XK150 SEs and Mk 10s. D types used triple Webers and I imagine that the few XKSS s did too
Mk 2 rust first appears on the crowsfeet radiator support area and then on the rear of the sills. These are drivers cars that you can hang the tail out readily, hold the slide through the corner and then correct easily. YouTube any British Saloon car race of the early 1960s.

+1 on getting it going mechanically and leaving it alone cosmetically. See how you like it! Once it goes down the road straight, it will be an easy sale and should recover your efforts, unless it has a rod sticking out the pan!

It's a Jag so its going to be a rabbit hole. I bought a 3.8 a few years back that had been thoroughly restored then parked for 10 years. It required, tank flush, new fuel lines, fuel pump, carb clean, coolant flush, new hoses, battery on and on and on. Eventually got it going (auto choke was a bastard) and it was fun to drive as it just looked beautiful and drove well but make no mistake that these are truly the cure for happiness. I can imagine that the interior is hideous with flaking wood an split leather so if you are OK driving around in the automotive equivalent of a haunted house then do it.
That carb setup came from a MKX/420G and is worth a decent amount of money to convert Series 2 XKE from Strombergs to Skinners Union. ![]() ![]()

Yea, I just ran the # off of the motor, it is a 4.2L out of a mark X/420G and it has the high compression gold head. Still didn't see if it will turn over yet, waiting for the snow to melt before I try. Think I could get $2500 for the whole thing?

I don't know. I think if its relatively rust free (check underneath at the front cross member) then maybe. You need to find someone that really wants to restore a MK2 and is OK about the wrong motor. People are weird about matching numbers these days. Its certainly worth more parted out but that's a royal PIA.

Yea, original 3.8L motor had 220 hp with a zero to 60mph of 8.1 seconds. So this motor should make it a tad faster down the street in its day. There is really not much rust to it so this could be restored if one desired to tackle it. They really were quite ahead for the time, as this has disc brakes all the way around, limited slip rearend, 4 speed with overdirve, power steering, and enough power to send it down the road.

The Jag Mk 2s were the favourite getaway car for bank and wages snatch robbers as there was nothing much that could catch them in the day and they were strong enough to ram other cars out of the way The V12 engine is far more difficult to work on than the XK 6 cylinder engine.
