Bag of dog poop question.

Walking dog. Dog poops, and you pick it up with a baggie.

What do you think about tying a knot in the bag and dropping it into a private residential garbage can? I find them in mine, I don’t mind.

But my dog has the uncanny ability to Take a dump at the furthest point in my walk or jog. I know where the public cans are, and they are not always convenient.

It depends on if the can is on the curb for pickup, no big deal.

If it is up against the house and empty, no way.

I have done that when the trash is out for pickup and right there on the curb. They will never see or smell the poop. Who cares.

If I'm walking past a garbage can that's easily accessible and full then I throw them in. I don't walk up into a yard/driveway to throw them out. My wife doesn't like me to put them in strangers' garbage cans.

Of course, for me it's no big deal, the dog is 11# and his poop is tiny. If I was having to carry a garbage bag and a shovel to pick up after my great dane, I might have to tow a wagon behind me just to haul all of the poop.

Non golfers are free to walk /ride bikes / walk the dog on the cart pathes on our golf course before 7AM and after 7PM. All the trash cans at the tee boxes have a small sign on the lid asking people not to put dog waste in them.

I don't care for people putting their dogsiht in my can but I leave it in the alley so it's fair game. What really pisses ME off is people walking their dogs and they pee on the ground cover in my parkway. I have to now and then get down and pull weeds. Working in a sea of dog piss is nice.

I am totally fine with that and have done the same.

When I am on a walk with my dog and I have to poop I try to find a nice porch to do it on.

Agree with Glen. The only caveat is that if it's garbage day, and that can has already been picked up by the city and is now empty, I won't toss it in there (to fester for a week). But if garbage day was yesterday and you're still too lazy to bring your cans in, then fair game.

I’m ok as long as the can is not empty. I don’t need a smashed bag of dog poop smeared all over the bottom of my trash can.

If my dog pooped then I would bag it and bring it back and put it in my own garbage. I expect the same of others but it does not happen. The worst is when a dog poops on our property and is not picked up.

Thankfully we don't have a dog anymore. Don't miss that part at all.

There's a fairly large percentage of the population that has zero social consciousness. I run 6 to 7 mi a day in the winter and refuse to go into the town parks anymore because of the piles of crap or what's worse the crap in a bag left all over the place. This is despite the fact that the town provides bags and receptacles all every 1/2 mi or so. You even see this, though less frequently, in a very high end( 1-5 million $ homes) that I now run through.

Always take bags when I run, walk or hike with Harlee because nature always calls him when we’re out. I bag, knot and drop on the side of the trail to pickup on there return. It goes either in my or public garbage. Have not developed the nerve to put in my neighbors’ garbage since cans are only out when emptied, and would stink up their cans.

For the old timers who never picked it up or throw it over the fence, we know a lot more now then we did back then, so her is a quick read why we pick it up: https://topdogtips.com/reasons-pick-up-dog-poop/
