I understand and agree with you. But you and I and maybe 17 others don't constitute the masses of society. And the masses of society just want stuff.

I also agree with you, Matt. But I'm not as optimistic that we (societal masses) are smart/unselfish enough to figure that out.

I went shopping for a floor jack a few years ago. C'mon, everyone on the interwebs touts how their Harbor Freight or Costco jack only cost them $60 or so and does awesome, right? But based upon previous experience with one that I bought from my FLAPS, I decided to Buy American this time. Did you realize there are (or were back then, I haven't checked in a few years) only 2 manufacturers of floor jacks here in America? Milwaukee Hydraulic and Hein Werner. And their 2-ton floor jacks go for about $300. Even vaunted Snap-On only sells floor jacks Made in China. Sears/Craftsman was outsourced to China years ago. (I was too cheap to buy the Danish one sold here on Pelican, or the Spanish one sold by Griot's.)

I have not set foot in Wal Mart in this millennium. It has been over 30 years.

Mostly because I don't want someone taking my picture and posting it on the Walmartian site!

I do shop at Sam's but the vast majority of what we buy is fresh fruit or household consumables. It pretty much impossible to avoid China made electronics and I do buy a lot of that on Amazon. If I can find a non China product, I buy it even if it is more than a similar Chinese garbage product.

I really do hope there is a full court press to bring back manufacturing to the states or at least out of China controlled countries.

Walmart sucks for a lot of reasons.

Even the store lighting gets me down.

Walmart has good car batteries and cheap oil. I go in the back door and out the back door. If they weren't closer than the local FLAPS I would not ever go there. They used to have good prices on ammo.
