Why was Step/Tiptronic given no respect like PDK ?

Sort of... if I still had an older 911 I would be all over shifting it like I did "back in the day" and I totally appreciate the art of shifting. I'm simply saying I have evolved along with the technology and for a modern car, PDK is the best thing around. Kind of like comparing carbs to fuel injection... Some diehards will always prefer carbs even though FI is superior. (and yes, i prefer a Bic pen over a fountain pen.. lol..)

Same reason the Vette is mid-engine now. It is all about numbers and less about enjoyment or aesthetics.

One of the members of our PCA region is a doctor and likely makes a very comfrtable pile of money. He has had several 991s, GT3RS, Cayman GT4, and other modern 911s. He recently showed up in a long hood 911 with a 3.2 Carrera drive-train in it. A very nicely done car. He said it was a lot more fun to drive a car that has zero, Nada, zip, zilch, forms of computer controlled driving. No ABS, not even power steering, just like my 85 Carrera only a bit lighter. He admits he is not even remotely as fast as the modern cars, but he is having more fun driving. So yea, it ain't as fast but it is more fun for the driver. That is my preference. If the day comes that my clutch leg or foot is just not up to the task, I will get a modern PDK vehicle. If you just have to run with the big dogs at the front of the pack, get a modern 911.

Nicely said and I agree. If I could afford to have a modern car and another setup early car, I certainly would. Best of both worlds!
