Exactly. And of those power plant workers, food processors, truck drivers,... all mixing about, and are they dropping like it's 1918? - - No, they are not.

Healthy people can go about their business, clearly.

BTW, power plant workers, food processors, truck drivers, the little people, know the risks and understand we have been "open" the entire time.

Yep.

"Trump is not King."

But apparently they are all ok with governors being kings.

What defines clean parachute landing? No more new cases, and a vaccine? We will never not have new cases just by social distancing.

Nobody said open the floodgates. On a 'proven-declining' curve(I think gov std is 2 weeks) Crack the faucets, monitor new cases, and keep opening it slowly. Let the under-40's go back to work at a safer environment. Guys like me will have to take extra precautions.

Distancing did it's job. Kept us from running out of respirators and overflowing hospitals. We are never going back to pre-covid state of this country. Even with a vaccine, I suspect guys like me (over 55, asthma from birth) are not going to risk large groups like stadiums/concerts again.

Can someone please explain what the issue is? I’m just not seeing it.

The federal government has issued a recommended plan to reopen.

The states do NOT have to follow it.

If they do follow it, the governors get cover and fed money if things go sideways.

If they choose to do there own thing, it’s on them. IMHO, they don’t get fed funds if things go sideways.

Really nobody is keeping anybody from doing anything they don’t want.

Like HCQ, it’s FDA approved for off label. Fed has it in stock. If you want it, take it. The risk is 100% on you since there is no ‘full science’ study.

Honestly, quit griping about it and take the risk or not. Choose damnit.

You clearly have no experience in telling other people how much better you are than they are.

Risk is not for you to decide...they have people and "models" who will decide for us.

Kidding, of course.

I am, have been, out and about, doing the right things. It really is easy and I am in the Boomer Zone.

Your commentary may be true but does not diminish the fact that I still have personal choices to make.

Everyone needs to reconcile two things:
1) I will face an end to this mortal life whether I like it or not.
2) Until then, I need to decide what risks I feel are worth taking.
#1 YOU ARE GOING TO DIE - come to terms with this. All the vitamins and aroma therapy will not change that.

#2 As far as what risks, we MUST still accept that (within the confines of what is legal and morally humanitarian, I still have options as to how much risk I am willing to take.

I didn't think that needed to be said but I guess there are those who are willing to risk other lives for their own selfish gratification ie: drunk drivers.

I am not going to let the government dictate whether I have a inoculation, own a gun, drive on the highway, or eat Ribeye steak instead of Tofu. Nor should I desire that the government mandate that someone cannot drink alcohol, smoke tobacco, or go parachute jumping (not saying this to anyone in particular).

My aunt always said you get to gripe for 1-3 days depending on the length of the stick you were shafted with, after that time, choose a path. No more griping allowed .

POTUS got behind a good, solid plan. I give him credit. Got a good balance of CYA, logic, and speed.

If he didn’t have his unhinged moments (last Monday’s video and rant at the media), I’d vote for him again.

Not really a great analogy. There are things that are a part of the social contract called being a citizen of your country AND these mandates were chosen by your (or your previous generations) freely elected officials. You did have the "right" to be a conscientious objector and face the subsequent ramifications.

Let have some common logic: there has to be parameters of requirements to live in society or you just end up with anarchy. If you can't accept the parameters set in place there are no laws against finding a different place to live.

p.s. I had a lottery number when I turned 18.

Some of us forgot that this is not PARF. The thread needs to be moved due to those without self control.

"Flattening the curve" to keep us from overwhelming medical resources was the reason for the April shutdown extension as sold to the country.
So, that should be the criterion for reopening.

Everyone catches the flu eventually even with a vaccine unless you subscribe to the fairy tale that the CCP is writing.

How true.

And BTW, Taking away the freedom of people with healthy immune systems prevents them from spreading the disease and killing millions.

7 deaths in the entire state is a debacle? What would be a non-debacle, 3?
It is a serious mistake to focus only on deaths.

Many infectees who survive will be crippled for life (in a physiological sense).

Besides that, you need to wait 2 more weeks on death rates from the meat packing plant.

My very focused Scottish (parents off the boat, then an orphan when his parents died in a buggy accident - can you imagine?) Grandfather used to say, "You have to either sheet, stand or stampede...make a choice, Son".

The Federal guidance makes sense...but terrifies state and local governments who(m) have never had to make sheet, stand or stampede type of calls.

Make a choice, move forward.

Waiting for death is death.

“A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.” ― William Shakespeare

You cannot eliminate risk, just chose what level you wish to take within what is in your control.
