A Factory 5 GTM isn't a replica but would still be fun to drive.
I put cup holders in the Cobra replica. Drilled big holes in the tunnel and dropped in some nice polished AL ones. The only issue is when I pull the parking brake, the bolt hits on and lifts it a bit. Not much room in those cars. Superformance Brock Coupe can be had with A/C and sounds like they ride well except on the rough stuff. More room for taller people too.

Based just on re-sale value, those kits to put modern corvette running gear under an old vette body make allot of sense.
At least until they flood the market and drive the price down like they did to cobra kit cars. |

Really nice, well done Cobra's are in the low $30's now. And like the fiberglass '32 Ford coupe, you can't swing a dead cat with-out hitting a few.
Same thing happened to '41 willy's cars in a pro-street theme in the very early 90's - there was this huge demand and suddenly everyone and their brother was stamping them out. My friend traded up to one of those done with a blown BBC and beautiful paint. Then had a guy re-do the crap interior and install really nice leather with contrasting panels to the tune of $5K in early 90's money. Which turned the $50K market value to $75K almost overnight. He then traded up again to a $100K (at the time) a slick 34 Ford Coupe also with a BBC - done in pro-street style. It wasn't too long after that the '41 Willy's market started to drop like a stone.

I look at this pic and have watched several Cobra videos since this thread started.
Maybe I'm wrong but if you are large framed and/or fat it doesn't look like you'd fit well.

But there is (or was) a company making cobras with a little more room for larger passengers. Can't remember the name right now. EDIT: https://www.ultimateclassiccars.com/ But even with the longer frame and dropped footbox I'd be staring at the top of the windscreen. Last edited by sammyg2; 05-13-2020 at 10:51 AM.. |

Worked with her (Jeri Ryan) on the ABC show “Body of Proof” for a few seasons, well..... worked with her is really an exaggeration, I was on the same sound stage sometimes. Yes she really does look that good.

Some of those Cobra replicas had a 94" wheelbase. Mine is a 90" like the original but I have high backed buckets, and one of the guys with an extended wheelbase sat in mine and was immediatly ticked off because ha actually had more legroom in mine. Go figure. I did have a guy 6'6" try to drive it. If it were an auto he would have been fine but the door hinge intruded into his clutch leg.
I would bet you still cant get a Superformance or Kirkham replica that is well done in the low 30s. Some of the other glass cars probably pretty easily. I have no idea who would fit in that Ultima. I would certainly try!

The secondary market for built Cobras is in the $ 30's. I don't care who built it. Result of a run up, too many short term owners, then dumping for sale. I love them, don't get me wrong, would love to own one but they are about as practical as a motorcycle. Which is why there is so much turnover. The bubble burst on those cars @ 6 years ago.
There is also a fair amount of unfinished project Cobras where the owner / builder has lost interest or funds or both. They are a big factor in dragging the market down on nice, completed cars. Like 32 Fords, the market gas dropped like a stone, but for different reasons. You can buy a really nice 32 kit car, nicely done in a variety of styles in the low $30's as well. It costs @ 2X that to purchase a good kit and all the parts to include an average quality paint job. There are a fair number of those kits not completed for sale as well
