Must be that I'm old...I cannot think of a single car that grabs me with "I want that"...Love looking at them, but simply no urge to possess.

Maybe because at 76...well, got enough "stuff" that needs taking care of while not having Jay Leno money. He and others do it the right way...hired help doing the work, while you play with the toys.

A Gullwing with one of those new AMG straight sixes would be nice, but Mercedes hunts down all replica makers.

Gt40

Heck with building one. I wanted to buy this one but lived across the country from it and did not think I would fit in it.

In the course of my professional and personal experiences I've had the chance to either work on or drive most of the replica kits made. The one stand-out appearance wise was the Countach. It as well was purported to be exact in every dimension. It was mounted on a modern tube- chassis powered by a hot 406 SBC mated to a ZF 5 speed transaxle. When I was working on it it was @90% complete. Once I got in and drove it I hated everything about it. Everything. On the other hand it went, cornered and braked like giant go cart - unbelievable really.

For me I'd like to do a 32 Ford 5 window coupe traditional 60's style. But you can't swing a dead cat and not find one already done. Possibly the 356 coupe......

My quest vehicle.........

I would like to start with a steel 1940 Ford truck body, channel it down over a custom chassis with independent suspension on both ends and chop off the steel top and turn it into a convertible w/folding top. Full fenders, running boards, etc. Frenched headlights, taillights, doorhandles, etc. I would probably use a mid sized engine like a 351 Cleveland, possibly with a stroker kit and a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox. The interior would have some high quality bucket seats, full length console and a burl walnut full width dash with a full set of analog gauges. Paint it a nice dark metallic blue with some ghost flames and with a white leather interior. Finish it off with a 18" set of American Racing (Mustang) wheels and some ultra high performance all weather tires! Now, THAT would be a build!

There is a 30 or 31 hot rod coupe with the 32 grill shell, painted yellow with flames. Small block Ford V8, manual gearbox and a/c (I think) being offered for $30K! Very much like the one in American Graffiti movie!

I like this one and Eleanor from the same company.

Turnkey. Don't have to build it after getting the stimulus check.

Z-28 is a way better car than a big block Camaro

I have one of those. It's a Volvo color.

If I were going to do a replica I'd probably choose a Cobra.

I don't know Chevy's deep but the Z-28 must be better balanced. It's more the look that intrigues me.

I like simple(r) as well anymore. That Bronco or Chevy II Nova they offer would suffice.

The XJ13 is breathtaking. It's up there with the 250LM.

That's an official armada.

Like what they said on Top Gear. "Never own your dream car. You will be severely disappointed."

Years ago I came across an MGTC replica which used Chevette running gear. About twenty years ago, I was in a position to think about aquiring such a kit and a donor car. Imagine my surprise when I realized I could buy a freshly painted '69 911 for less money.
Screw the replica.

I want to build that. And put this in it, tuned to about 550HP, which is not really pushing these engines at all.
