First, welcome back.

Second...I don't like SUV's...that's putting it mildly. Don't care who makes 'em...I just don't like the looks of 'em. So, think I'll keep driving my hassle free Mustang, thank you...when and if I can go to my favorite pool hall again.

The eternal, “Death of a Salesman”, optimism and BS of the free market is epitomized by car dealer ads.

“Lost your job? Thinking about hanging yourself? Spend your last $5k on a down payment on this hyper-depreciating, expensive POS! It’s enough to make anyone happy for a day or two, then there is always the rope!”

I hate SUVs too but a Macan is about the only one I'd drive. My sweetie hates my Jetta TDI wagon (because it's a "Phoenix soccer mom" car and wagons are grandpa cars - no coincidence, I think, that her dad has a Peugeot 505 wagon and had a W123 wagon before that, and that I think both of those are great whereas she and her sisters think they're terrible) and wants to replace it with a Macan. The JSW is sweet, but I'd bite.

I looked at/test drove Macans and Stelvios, but I just didn't like either. Too small to tow anything, small backseat, no real cargo space. They both struck me as 100% blah. My Cayenne GTS is almost too small to fill the role, but at least I can tow my 22' aluminum trailer with it.
