Denis, what a cool looking place to ride out the pandemic! Your trailer looks right at home tucked in there.

You want to be careful with planing to tow much with the motorhome. Airstream says the towing limit is 2k lbs.
I did some reinforcing in the rear frame for towing the SC.

Your rig may have a better frame setup for towing. They did some Iffy frame extensions for the longer models.

From what I understand the Argosys are an airstream line aimed at a lower price point.
They did make smaller sized Argosy motorhomes also.
In the Argosy line they used a lower quality aluminum in the skins and pressed steel panels for the curved end caps. Then they were painted to protect the skins.
Otherwise pretty similar to the other models.

I was wondering about that. It's built on a Chevy P-30 step van chassis, not sure what various sizes those came in as step vans. Mine might just have an all-Chevy frame, which would be a lot stronger for towing than a super extended one. Towing capacity also has a lot to do w tow vehicle weight and a 28' would be a LOT lighter than a 35' on basically the same drivetrain. I'll look into it, though and thanks for the info!

You know that you're my favorite around here and you are invited as well. I just don't care for polished Airstreams.

I'm an originality freak and the factory coated finish is "just right" in terms of reflecting away UVs and heat while being really tough and low maintenance as well. All they ever need is a good wash. My '63 trailer still looks great.

This is a 310 turbo diesel. It has one of the nicest original finishes I've seen. Most of the classic coaches get peeling clear coat and look a bit patchy. That's why so many older airstreams end up polished.

Joking.... When I was first looking to buy a camper, I really was interested in restoring an old Airstream. I did not really know that they made motorhomes too. That will be a fun clean up project.

Very,very nice. Tires for sure.

Also under 33’ you can park on beach row in most CA state RV campgrounds. We love going to Carpenteria SB, pricey, but still nice. Water and 30A service and an included dump station in the Park.

A lot of Walmarts, Bass Pro Shops and Cabella’s will let you minimally park overnight, don’t breakout the BBQfire pit, etc. Its also a good idea to check with the store first, they may OK with it but City ordinances may not allow it, and the PoPo may roust you in the middle of the night. I know someone who got rousted and was drunk, he was charged with a DUI, even though he was parked and asleep (yeah, California).

I had heard many years ago that Airstream started the Argosy line as a way to recycle aluminum that was deemed unfit for an Airstream . Because of the clear satin finish the aluminum on a Airstream had to be perfect .

But they were finding out they were wasting a lot of aluminum . Someone suggested to start the Argosy line with the vision of it being painted so they could use " waste " aluminum from the Airstream build line rejects . I have no idea if this is true or not but it makes sense .

That's funny, Tim, because I have been checking out a lot of used 40' pushers I see on the side of the road up here. This is RV country because people go south for the winter and like you, they don't have to pay for storage since everyone has a lot of land.

I don't really need one but being a Pelican, I can't help myself.

Boy, now I am feeling a little inadequate with my small 21' Winnebago!, at least the drivetrain is German.Its not much bigger than my Unimog and gets good gas mileage for a gas burner. (about 16-18mpg) Perfect for two people only really.
