Alright Denis, thanks for the update, sounds like you are off to a good start.
Yep access to the M C is a challenge for sure. Both of the front inner wheel well liners are removable for better access to the sides of the engine and some of the ancillaries. Does your's have disc brakes all around? Those Isusu Diesel engines are a bit clattery and loud by nature. So don't expect too much from the valve adjustment. They are old school diesels. My buddies is also a little rough running on cold start up. Smoothes out once it warms up. It will be nice having new glass to look thru while driving. Will be interested to hear how That works out for you. There are reports of around $1,500 per side, hope you make out better. I thought the seal is one piece accross both front windows? It's good to replace that seal as that's a common leak area. Is there evidence of leaks where the dents are? There are seam sealers that will flow into leaky seams to stop the leaks. It will be great to get it on the road so you can move it to where you are staying. Progress should increase when you have easy access to it. Engine cooling system flush is not a bad idea as they do build up sludge in the bottom of the radiators. This will reveal any leaks in the hoses also. Not great airflow thru the engine compartment so good radiator function is needed. Old tires shredding after a long time sitting is common, so look them over well and drive slowly till you can replace them. I do think that once you can get the rig washed and cleaned up your smile will be growing. All the best, Richard Last edited by tevake; 06-08-2020 at 04:38 AM.. |

Windshield halves are about $1k on this site, if you scroll down you can see them:
https://highskyrvparts.com/New-Airstream-Parts/Airstream-Motorhome-Parts/classic-motorhome/windshield-gasket Doesn’t really matter to me this time, the seller’s insurance is covering it. ![]()

Should you find yerself crawling up a twisty mountain pass, and your mirrors reveal a longish string of Porsches?

Crating and shipping would have added another $450, but I picked them up myself in Elkhart Indiana. ![]() ![]()

Thanks Tim, that’s a great resource and a great price. This repair is under the seller’s insurance so I’m not concerned with price but if I ever need more glass, I’ll definitely consult w those guys.

Updating this thread w latest news. I got the RV home finally, it was at a glass shop for quite a while getting a new windshield and sitting before that waiting for insurance to be sorted out. Long story but it’s done.
It ran good on the trip from St. Paul to northern Wisconsin but the fan belt broke. I think it was the wrong one and it’s supposed to have two in tandem, just ordered the second one from Amazon and will fix that. Like everything on this beast, it’s not a straightforward job like on a car or a PU truck. Tough access. I started cleaning it up, wish I’d taken some “before” pics of the engine cover carpet because the change is dramatic. It was covered in shoe dirt and coffee stains, looked really bad. I bought another small carpet machine like the one I left in CA and went at it. I highly recommend this little Bissel extractor for vehicle cleaning: ![]() Here is a photo of the front cover after cleaning, I’m going to have to wait until I get somewhere with better internet before posting the rest of my photos. ![]() ![]() ![]()

The carpet is cleaning up nicely.
Those front seats seem to have been replaced, that's a score! Keep us posted you your progress, the body exterior does look good. How did it drive on the way home? Keep in mind that getting DOWN a goat path is the easy part. Love those temps you are having. Cheers Richard |

Maybe some German Silverkit or square weave. I hear they are both quite affordable. ![]() |

^ No way! Look at that fabulous period correct interior. The 8-track storage bin, wow! It needs a bottle of English Leather in the bathroom and a bead curtain.

^^ absolutely, you want to go slowly in referb ing these classic rigs. The interior is built using all solid oak and good quality joinery.
Many end up being gutted and rebuilt with partical board with vaneer or Formica. My friend with the 310 that I posted earlier did put in a very nice looking teak and holly look floor that gives a very yachtie appearance Cheers Richard |

Another vote for restore before replace, what a great project and it's looking great
My son is doing the same thing with the carpet in my truck, if you haven't already, try spraying water on the carpet, scrub it with a tooth brush/nail brush and then wet vac, really brings the dirt to the surface making it easier to suck it all out. He also lets it dry and then gives it a dry vac and if it's really dirty he gives it another scrub and wet vac. The carpet is coming up great, gone from brown, now back to factory grey and the color of the waste water is like a wet diaper bomb has gone off ![]() An 8 track and CB is too cool, you need some 70's porn music tapes or 80's disco tapes In fact only period correct sounds should be allowed, that's how I roll in my mid-90's Toyota ![]()

I won’t be touching anything that is in good shape now. I like them as original as possible. I’m more of a repair guy.
Here are shots of the generator and propane tank, pretty standard stuff. ![]() ![]() It even has a bulletin board! ![]() ![]() ![]()
