What makes so many people think trotting their thoughts out in front of the world a reasonable thing to do?

narcism, and a serious insecurity. Looking for reassurance from strangers. addicted to the likes and retweets. A basic, fundamental weakness.

What you post can and will be used against you.

No matter how long ago it was posted or even if you thought you deleted it.

A good forum is more give and take, conversation. Seems like most people use Twitter to just blast their thoughts on whatever to the world. Which is where the narcissism and self-importance comes into play.

I'm tech savvy and very "connected" (smart phone, smart watch, always online, etc...) but I am not on twitter and have no desire. I understand that twitter can/does include some good stuff, but I think it's like the internet (but probably worse) to get the good stuff, it's 1 in a million (or maybe 100 million).

Twitter counts on narcissistic people who need that validation that they are being listened to, and attention is being paid to themselves. Some sort of mental illness that creates the unrelenting craving to feel needed, and important.

Same here. I have never twittered even once. I do not have an account, and never will. I simply don't care about it.

I do have a Faceplant account. If someone gets political, I just quit following them. I truly have it to see how real actual friends and relatives are doing. I don't care at all about any of the political feelings. I use Facebook for laughs and keeping up with family and friends. Nothing more.
