My first Kayak Bass!

I can’t even explain my emotions right now. I don’t know Jack Squat about kayaks. I almost ate it on a mossy boat ramp when I stepped on it while dragging the kayak. My recovery was not graceful whatsoever. My boating skills, suspect. I almost fell out trying to standup to pee.

My first bass was 5 inches long. Haha. I was happy, oh so happy to continue my “no-skunk” bass fishing run, but that bass was so tiny I could have released him out a scupper hole.

But right there before a bunch of seasoned kayak guys and a slew of golfers, I caught my PERSONAL BEST! It’s not a big fish, but it’s my biggest bass ever. About 18 inches long and I’d guess 3lbs. Golfers were hooping and hollering , yelling “keep the rod tip up!”

So much fun.

That's cool Vash, well done with the catch. You are learning the kayaks ropes as you go. Got to avoid those slippery green spots on the ramps, and so much more.

Funny hearing of the golfers cheering you on and shouting pointers.

Cheers Richard

Good job!

In that thing you will fish much slower and really be able to pound the producing areas. Slow is good.

I fly fish out of a belly boat. Caught a 7 lb12 oz while brim fishing. I nearly strangled myself with all the loose fly line. I had 2 guys in a bass buggy pull up and and cheered me on.

You need someone else take the pic while you hold it in front of you as far as possible.
Makes it appear twice the size.

Nice! Don’t feel bad about the ramp, I almost did a cartoon worthy fail at the boat ramp last week. 9 years boating you’d think I would know better. My 16 year old bit it trying to recover a jet ski, soaked head to toe. Which was hilarious.

Were the golfers hooping and hollering when they figured out you caught it on a trot line?

Hey Vash, I just found this pic of a tournament fishing set up on a Hobie kayak.
This was at Clearlake in central Ca.
Lots of gear, even a fish finder.

Sorry for the poor ight , I snapped it as the guy was rolling down to the lakeside to launch.

Cheers Richard

A lawn mower propelled kayak. That will make you dizzy.

I know, just fishing rods and a bait bucket.

So you're not going to tell us what kind of rig ya caught it on? A three pounder on an ultralight would have been a blast!

I left the UL at home. I’m just not accurate casting a spinning rig. I went with a bait-cast rig with 16lb braid and a 10lb top-shot.

Dusted off my only good rod. A Gloomis! I need to buy one more rod.

I hooked the bass with a orange weightless SENKO. First time trying a SENKO.

Congrats! I like the fish finder idea. More technology is always good. You should be able to mount a remotely controlled camera on the bow facing rearward, for bass selfies.
