My boat is finally home

I bought my boat about two months ago. And I’ve finally got it home. It was on a friends lift for a few weeks waiting for the mechanic to get to it, and I was also waiting on my dock and lift.

Well the shop put her back in the water this morning and the lift guy is coming later to adjust the bunks on the lift.

So hopefully now the fun can begin.

One note, the boat mechanics hourly rate was higher than my aircraft mechanic.

In the last two months I’ve been shining the boat up the best that I can. Had the upholstery redone, and going thru the boat trying to figure out how everything works.

The mechanic serviced both engines, 100 hr service. Also rebuilt the trim and shaft bushings, along with a few other things. I also had him replace some of my gauges.

There is still some things I want done, but at least now I can feel a little more comfortable using the boat.

Nice boat and docks.

So that is what the hole in the water where you can toss money really looks like?

Enjoy your big boy toy!

Somewhat related, I was on a job years ago with a (10) 2Mw Caterpillar generators so I got to be friendly with a mechanic from our local Cat dealer during startup and commissioning.

He worked on big pleasure craft during the weekends and said he made almost as much in those 2 days as he did working the other 5.

Yes, I have some covers for most of the boat. The upholstery guy is suppose to make me something for the remaining.

And hopefully , weather permitting, I’ll be able to go out in the gulf and catch some fish soon. I’m going to have to learn how to throw a net also. But for now I guess I’ll keep the bait shop in business. Or use the subuki rigs.

Salt water fishing is new to me.

You’re gonna have a blast. You are only a rookie for a limited time. And trust me, every fish you get while rookie is sweet sweet sweet. Half the time you will be, “I can’t believe that worked!”

Enjoy. Brace yourself when you go equipment shopping. Rods reels, Salt-water equipment is a mystery to me. Fish finders? Holy crap. Another mystery. Knots? Forget about it. Haha. You are about to get in deep.

Just about the perfect powerboat for the FL Gulf. Plenty of power, plenty of freeboard, and plenty of deck space to land your catch. Enjoy!
