A deep curiousity

Does anybody know how many times James Arness has shot Bruce Dern in Gunsmoke episodes?

As good a guess as any, I suppose. Just a random thought I had while watching an old Gunsmoke rerun today. Damn, Bruce Dern had playing the snidely bad guy down to an art form..

I always wanted to know how many times was Matt Dillion shot in the shoulder. Both shoulders must be a mass of bullet scars. One he was shot in the back and nearly died on a two part episode.

He killed a lot of bad guys, and helped a lot of good people, but he sure got shot a lot over the span of the series.

A quick search says that he was shot no less than 56 times, knocked unconscious 29 times, stabbed on three occasions, and poisoned once.

He was a tough sob. Also, lucky!

Not sure but wish he'd have shot him in the nuts so we wouldn't have to ever see Laura Dern **** up a movie.

I guess over the length of a 20 year long series the writers had to have lots of gunfights in a series called Gunsmoke. I wonder if any human on the planet was ever shot even halve that many times and lived. Maybe it was just TV and the writers figured no one would remember.

The new Gunsmoke will have an instantly healing, immortal Marshal Dillon. Charlize Theron will be the new Miss Kitty.

No, Charlize Theron or some other 90 pound pretty girl will be Mattie Dillion and she will be able to whip gangsters that are 6'6 and 280 pounds of muscle with a single punch.

And she will have the hero ability to dodge all bullets.

LOL! No argument from me on that one. Daddy a hell of a lot better at acting than his daughter.

The same reason we drive on the parkway and park on a driveway.

Festus on Gunsmoke is one of my favorite charicters in the old westerns.

Did you know that Marshal Dillon of Gunsmoke and Ben Cartwright of Bananza both rode the same horse?

I've been really getting into the old westerns lately. Most enjoying Paladin, and Maverick.

Cheers Richard

He played that role exceptionally well in Hang 'Em High.

Mike Day was close to half (11 of the 27 hit body armor). Walked to the helicopter when the gunfight was over.
