What would I look for, and about what would it cost to start reloading? I don't have a lot of diversity. 9, 45, 5.56, 12, 20, and now the .06. I assume those can't all be done with the same loader...

AFAIK it's all about the dies so yes one loader with a bunch of different dies.

Never saw whether the OP found any 06 ammo. I was in Dunhams the other day and saw a lot of different 30-06 in a few different brands. If the OP is still looking and needs some, I could snag it and ship it to you. Not sure what shipping ammo costs.

I haven't found any local yet, but I haven't really had a chance to get out and shoot either. Thank you for the offer! I'm sure some will come back in stock before I really need it. And in the mean time it is a good excuse to take Jeff up on his offer and burn through some of his hand loads. All I need is a little bit of time.

Yep, as mentioned same loader different dies. But what I'd do is concentrate on one calibre, and get good at that one. Of course pick the one you shoot the most, or more to the point - costs you the most dollars to shoot. Something to research, progressive presses such as a Dillon 550C. It's fun.

For reloading, my son and I just went down this rabbit hole. Probably in the ballpark of $600-$800 to get things rolling. Need a press, a bench to mount the press to, die sets for each caliber (50-100/set). Case trimmer with collets and shell holders. Shell holders to go with each caliber (by family) on the press. Universal depriming die A good scale A good caliper Case deburring tool Primer pocket cleaner Case lube kit (outside and neck) Powder measure and trickler. This can get spendy. I bought a Harrell precision (lowest priced) Loading blocks Lee Autoprime Some way to store all this stuff I have an uncle that got us started with a lot of it, but I still get raised eyebrows when a package arrives (and it isn’t something she needed) Oh, and by the way - just try to buy primers. Powder is still somewhat attainable - but primers are your problem. Find them, and you’re home free. Bullets are a bit tight too. We are loading 6.5 creedmoor and 25-06. | ||

CTD has .38 special but it's over 1$ PER ROUND. I just can't do it.

I was in a rural Walmart last weekend getting keys made. The only thing they had was 12 & 20 gauge. But then we are in hunting season now, so that's probably not a huge surprise.

Exactly, those prices are insanity. And I suspect that won't change for 4-8 years at least.

Sadly I suspect it’s only going to go up. I’m expecting ammo to be made illegal - or “reasonably restricted” to the point it effectively will be in the next few years. The good news is I have more than I need to protect myself. I suppose I could even sell some off, make some good money and still be okay.

It's made in Mexico. Some people really like the stuff. I tried the extra low velocity .22 but found it was a bit too inconsistent load to get OK results. Very quiet though for shooting rats with the .22 within city limits. With a silencer on the .22 it sounded like an air rifle.

Good for him. People want to blame someone other than themselves. Its easier to come up with a conspiracy theory than say "I screwed up and didn't stock up when ammo was plentiful". I have to admit I was one that came late to the party and have had to pay a higher price because of it.
