Concealed Carry On Backpack Shoulder Strap

I’m trying to find a way to carry a small spoon on the shoulder strap of my backpack, with the spoon concealed and protected from rain. Spoon size similar to the Glock 26 or S&W 442. Not planning any quick draw games but need it quickly accessible.

Reason: concealed carry on a bike is difficult, especially wearing raingear. Carrying the spoon inside the backpack makes it inaccessible.

Suggestions?

I have an Alien Gear backpack strap holder for their system. It is a bit bulky and definitely not concealed.

Got it for hunting when the danger of a mountain lion is present and I am alone.

You can also get a chest rig, but again it is not concealed.

I carried for years while cycling. Right hand back pocket of Jersey. I carried a Kel-Tec P3-AT, very small 380ACP. I kept it in a ziplock bag for moisture protection. Sweat is more of an issue than anything else.

It was in a "rug" inside the ziplock. I kept my CC license and some cash in the rug as well, along with a spare mag.

No rain, ziplock open. Rain, ziplock closed.

I pulled out the "rug" and unzipped once. A Pickup truck was "rushing" us from behind on a 4 lane divided road. He did this multiple times before passing around us and turning on a side street.

Technically, I never "brandished" since the pistol was still in the rug.

When riding recreationally, I carry (sometimes) in the jersey pocket in a ziplock.

But when riding around town, I carry a backpack and don't wear a jersey.

There are generic shoulder strap pouches meant for water bottles or radios, but I can't find anything more suitable for a concealed spoon. Surely there must be such a product? The whole CCW thing is such a marketing machine, there are CCW bras and CCW underwear (made those up but I don't doubt), how can there not be a CCW shoulder strap pouch?

Sneaky Pete looks good, they seem made for belt wear, I wonder how secure they are if strapped to a shoulder strap (like, will the spoon fall out).

Sorry...but I don't understand. Why would you want to carry a hand gun while biking??
Don't they weigh a few lbs.?

I'm constantly trying to shed lbs. while biking....a credit card is about all I carry.

If you could add a "twist lock" to the Sneaky Pete, you might have a winner. Of you might look for a camera accessory bag that goes on a strap like that.

The Sneaky Pete uses magnets to keep it closed.

I went down this road trying to find a holster that would mount to the shoulder straps on my backpack while actually backpacking. I had no reason to try to conceal, but I would have settled for one that did. No luck. One would think there would be a market for such an animal, but apparently there is not. Every darn holster on the market is designed to mount to a horizontal belt, not a vertical one. I tried all manner of dedicated shoulder holster, with their own straps, but found them all uncomfortable with backpack straps going over them. Good luck...

Yeah, some of our bike paths are all but unrideable due to the homeless camps with guys defending their "turf".

Jeff, the polymer Alien Gear system has a mount specifically for backpack straps and you can orientate the draw anyway you want.

A good upholstery shop should have the sewing equipment to modify a holster to any fastening method you like. Changing a loop made for horizontal mount to vertical would be a snap.. Speaking of snaps...a pair of snaps to close the loop over a strap...something like that.

I didn't see any Alien Gear for backpack that were concealed carry. But the idea is good.

A modified Sneaky Pete installed in the same way, but with some extra clasp to ensure the flap stays shut with the pistol sideways. Setup on the left for cross-draw seems like a good way to go.

I like the nylon styles for this with some "innocuous" logo on it, like it is medical gear.

Instead of the backpack, would something like a top-tube bag be more accessible?

https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=102959&category=269

That kinda flies against the opinion from Alien Gear:

https://aliengearholsters.com/blog/concealed-carry-for-bicycle-commuters-and-recreational-cyclist/

EDIT: After thinking about this some more, I do think having the pistol on the bike is a bad idea. Ignore my first suggestion; you want it on your person somewhere. Visibility vest with an internal pocket?

I have one of these phone pouches on my right shoulder strap. It is durable, rainproof, and the flap is secured with a huge slab of velcro that won’t come open unless you mean it to. I bet they’d make me a custom pouch sized for the spoon, to go on the left strap. Having two sort of matching pouches, that don’t look “spoony”, might be the way to go.

This guy did something simple. But maybe the addition of a holster attached inside the bag would be a bit more secure.

I’m not likely to encounter a bear.
