But no predictions?!
I predict Ferrari will get within 30 points of Mercedes for another 2nd place in the manufacturer’s championship. |

Max re-signed with Red Bull.
So, there's that...

I predict Williams will be last place.
I predict Force India/Racing Point/The Only Reason Lance Stroll is in F1 will be right in front of them. McLaren will get a podium. Ferrari will look unbeatable in winter testing. Then will be surprisingly slow at the first race. Suddenly, they will win races in Europe and appear unbeatable. Someone will launch a complaint about their engine technology violating the rules. They will be surprisingly slow after the summer break.

If Renault can get their act together and McLaren continues to improve next year could be interesting . Red Bull will be strong with two great drivers and Ferrari will hopefully get their act together . Can they catch Benz only time will tell .
I am hopeful that Alpha/Haas/Red Bull's junior team can all step up and be consistently better . Force India or whatever they are now called could be a sleeper but they only have one good driver . |

I predict Haas will be unchanged with two not great drivers making lots of errors.

Question:
Who has done a better job in 2019, Binotto or Seidl? Both men seem to have gotten all the monkeys back in their cages, and it may be another half season before a fair comparison can be made. But can you make a case for either guy doing a better job, and why? Who will do a better job in 2020? |

With no improvement in tires and no real changes in the aero package, this will simply be 2019.2. Another season of horribly boring "racing" wherein drivers cannot follow one another close enough or long enough to set up for an overtaking move before their tires go off and the car overheats.

It'll be a hell of a lot of fun to look back at this page in a year if all of us turn out to be way wrong...

Quote:
Zeke does bring up the one (and a very significant) motivating factor for the teams to put some effort into 2020 - the payouts based on position in the championship. That will certainly serve to buoy their efforts. They are, however, still significantly hamstrung by the tires and the aero package. Try as they might to actually "race", physics are rather inviolable. The teams will face the same limitations they dealt with in 2019. No one is going to find, at this late date in the rules cycle, some "magic" solution that overcomes any of this. And if they do, the FIA will slam that door on them immediately. We won't see a breakout of the caliber of the Braun Racing / Jenson Button championship year. While I would love to see it, I see 2020 as more or less a "placeholder". Maybe some shuffling in the "best of the rest", but certainly not among the top teams.

If Ferrari can up their strategy and not do anything dumb, and Max keeps it clean, they could nip and Mercedes' heals. It could be an exciting season.

That's been Mercedes real strength, not losing races.
