Or is my slydexia acting up again?

The Ever Given is operated by the Evergreen shipping line.
Just to add to the confusion, it is owned by a Japanese firm, operated by a Taiwanese shipping firm, flagged in Panama, was crewed by mariners from India and had two Egyptian pilots on board when she struck. :D

I have not read all the posts above but could a large helicopter lift the containers off one at a time to enable the ship to float? Paul/Seahawk would you know?

It has 20K-25K containers.

I could knock that out in a day or so:D

I would really like to know the real specifics of this event. We'll see: Captain's Log, Suezdate 12125: All is well, slight breeze. The Egyptian Pilots really know their stuff...

I want to learn more about the blackout that was reported initially. Not much chatter about that.

Crowbob 03-28-2021 07:15 AM

My cynicism says this was intentional.

My optimism says it wasn’t.

Cynicism has been winning, lately.

How many vessels pass through the canal everyday? Now, during a pandemic, precarious global economic turmoil, the rise of fascism and the cancellation of Sharon Osborne we have this.

The empty bottle of Everclear has gone missing? Silence about the silence? That's the only chatter I know of...

Not only that but it bottled up one of our aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean. It was headed to the Middle East, now it’s not.

Fyi - TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) I think many of the containers are 40ft.

javadog 03-28-2021 07:43 AM

According to Osama Rabie in a press conference on Saturday, it wasn’t just wind that caused this. He didn’t offer specifics yet.

Supposedly the ass end is free, it’s nose is still stuck.

Wait, are you saying the captain of the Ever Given, was drinking Everclear, while working for the Evergreen Company?

I was just having fun. You'd need the new HLR to make a dent, 15 ton lift at 3000ft MSL and 91 degrees. That, folks is a bunch. I have flow the CH-53E a bit, 200 hours or so, which is like flying your house from your bathroom. Here is a comparison:

And I bet is would still be difficult:cool:

I really want to know what happened. Again, I have a smidgen of time on the bridge of Navy Amphib ships as an OOD. Things do go sideways in a hurry. Pun intended.

[QUOTE=unclebilly;11275294]Why is it that that ‘interesting’ path taken to swing the compass makes me think that these guys may have been involved?

why did they do that?

Why don't they cut the nose off and drag it out? Patch it and get it the hell out of there.....

The scale really is amazing. The below picture was posted earlier...your comment on cutting the Bulbous Nose is interesting. They could seal behind it.

The problem is that the ship is fully loaded. I bet the ship is 100ft on the sand/bank/shoal.
