Vaccine choice ... 2nd shingles or Covid?

I'm due for my second shingles vaccine in early April, and at 60, am hoping the Covid becomes available soon. I've "heard" (saw on TV) that they must be two weeks apart, but don't know why, or if longer between the two would be even more prudent. I'll probably get the shingles on the first day I can, but if the Covid suddenly becomes available ..... decision time. I suspect the Covid will be widely available to my age group by late April... and don't consider myself "high risk", so I'm leaning towards waiting if I have to make a choich. What say ye?

Shingles. If you wait too long for the 2nd one, you will need to repeat the whole series.

I think they suggest 2 weeks between to give your immune system to do its job creating antibodies to one. If your system is trying to do its job for 2 the chance of ill effects are higher.

I had my 2nd shingles shot three weeks ago . At that time I asked if the Covid shot becomes available how long do I need to wait . The reply was three weeks to be safe . As it turns out the Georgia governor yesterday announced that this coming Monday anyone 55 and up is eligible for the vaccine . So my wife and I will get in line .

Shingles #2. You can still protect yourself against COVID, more or less but Shingles is already in residence.

Def shingles. I’ve had both mine (shingles) already. I’d rather get Covid than the shingles. Odds are pretty damn good it’d be less painful and long lasting. Not to parf this up, I have no intention of getting the china gene therapy shot. I have NO problems with those that do btw.

Thank you all! Shingles it will be... I just wanted confirmation, and I'll probably wait at least 3 weeks for the Covid after that.

We have had a crappy start to 2021 with my knee and all the farm stuff that hasn’t gone quite right... kids missed 2 weeks of school for Covid precautions... then the cat froze up our water... then my wife got shingles... we caught it early (48 hours) but it is still running its course.

You don’t want shingles based on what I have seen.

I had my second shingles shot a few weeks ago. When I asked my Doc about the time between he said 2 weeks between shingles and Covid, shingles and booster is 2 months to 6 months between shots.

When I got shingles vaccine they suggested at least a 2 month wait between shots and it was fine to go longer. Maybe the protocol has changed. I wouldn't want to re-do the shingles shot. I got my second covid shot Tuesday. Yesterday was a bit rough but less sick than the shingles shot. I feel fine this morning. Headed back to work.

I'm in the same boat. I'm scheduled for my second shingles shot around April 8. I'm on a Covid wait list until they run out April 2nd.

I will get the 2nd shingles then wait at least 2-3 weeks before the Covid. That will be late April, and about the time I will become eligible here. Thanks all!

I'm thinking of getting Hepatitis-B vaccine, just to round things out...

They told me 2 months minimum and 6 months maximum. 1st shingles was mid-December.

I would go for the covid shot first. No covid shot you could be dead. With shingles you could wish you were dead. With the first shingles shot you have partial protection.

^^^^ I will have the 2nd Shingles 2-3 weeks in my rearview mirror before I'm even eligible for the Covid here based upon the latest info.
