^^^ Yes. Every day there are multiple junk emails...a lot more lately.
I usually look for an unsubscribe button, but sometimes there is none. I have noticed that almost all of the emails use the same unsubscribe format.

I wonder if by clicking on it, I am only adding to the amount I get.

It was loud-ish and the house jiggled a bit. I thought it was a minor quake but no one reported anything so I figured it was 1969 checking in with me...again
So you actually heard it or that's a quote from someone else? Very interesting. I'd love to know what it was, but we'll probably never know. The NSA knows!

I used to get a couple a day, but since just before Christmas it has really ramped up.
The whole "your package can't be delivered" or other just junk that I never used to get.
On the other hand, spam phone calls have dropped to near zero for me, so I'll take that as a fair trade.
I find that it comes and goes. I'll have periods where it ramps up, and then, I assume, since I mark it all as junk covers all of the new stuff until they come up with a new way to bypass the junk filters.

About a year ago I got a Harbor Freight credit card. I started getting spam from all sorts of places. I gave up on unsubscribing and opened a new email account. Zero spam now. I will never use that card.

^^^ I have not changed credit cards in the last few years....but I wonder if the spam is coming from places that I have ordered from.

Just like the pop-up ads that appear every time I search for a product....annoying.

Our daughter in law is visiting with the grandson. Tonight she was telling us about her brothers and their kid's names.

She's got one brother that per the story, sounds like he married an odd woman. They ended up naming their kid Icarus. And they call him Icky. I feel like they're setting him up for failure. Apparently, they named him Icarus because they like the part of the story right before the tragic ending.

The other brother went to law school. He named his kid ____ ____ ____ ____ junior (he's got 4 or 5 names, I don't remember what they are). The crazy thing is that the father (her brother) is "____ ____ ____ ____ junior." Apparently, the brother didn't like "____ ____ ____ ____ 'the third'."

Heard and felt. The "hearing" bit usually occurs when Picatinny is lighting off ordnance but they say it wasn't them.

Icarus is kind of a cool name, but I could see it being a problem. Kind of a double dose of potential failure- the sound of the name and the tragic ending associated with the name.

There was a podcast based on the most original versions of the Greek Myths. I need to dig it up, maybe post a new thread. Same for Aesop's Fables.

wow, crazy. You'd think if it was that loud and heard by that many people that it wouldn't be that hard to triangulate to the source.

I always liked Steve Hartman. He used to do public interest stories for the local LA news station and called it "The Steven-ing News".

Then he went big time and started doing CBS Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes.

I always liked this one....

what a waste of money IMO. Who can tell that is meant to honor MLK.

We've all heard the term "Stockholm Syndrome" but the details of what happened really surprised me.

Excellent video (that probably deserves its own thread).

It’s a good gig if you can sell it. I personally hate this irresponsible misuse of citizens money. Put up a bush and water it.

Winter At Last

Winter finally came to Nova Scotia. Snow started yesterday morning and continued off and on through the day. Total of not much more than 6 inches. The winds moved it around a bit. I went out yesterday to blow the first bit out, but because there was no frost in the ground, had to be really careful not to blow gravel into the ditch.
This morning was easier as the frost penetrated a bit so I could just drop the blower and go.
On Monday we're supposed to get rain and +8 C.
C'est la vie.

Best

Have We Jumped The Shark?

This morning my wife brought home a big bag of bird seed. Stitched into the end of the bag was a card which proclaimed, "Caution. Allergy Alert! May contain peanuts."
I asked her if we had to screen the birds regarding possible allergies.
WTF?

My friend has a peanut allergy, and if he just handles the chaff and touches his mouth he'll have a reaction. It's actually pretty scary how little it takes to cause a bad reaction that can shut him down. He travels with an epi.
