This crazy heat wave has melted much of the ice already :(
We usually get what we refer to as a January thaw which would bring temps between 35 and 40 but this is ridiculous.
I hope it gets cold enough from now on to kill off tick nymphs and other hibernating pests.

I think of it as Tom Jones' locker.

Yesterday I bought a used bandsaw from a guy at the other end of the Valley. Since he had been posted at various locations in the western Valley before he retired, (RCMP), it turned out we knew some of the same people. He mentioned his wife was from Wolfville. I asked her maiden name and, when he told me, another piece fell into place. He had married a sister of an old friend from university days.
When I worked in tourism I used to tell folks, "Welcome to Nova Scotia. If you're talking to someone you don't know, be careful: you might be related to them. "

I'm frequently amazed by how often the "6 degrees of separation" phenomenon occurs.

It's easier to put on a pair of slippers than it is to try and carpet the world.

One of my favorite SNL skits. Al's comedy is terrific!

Deep Thoughts with Jack Handy was also great stuff.

Yep, you can buy pallets of stuff from Amazon. If you're a hard worker, I can see it maybe working out, but it sounds like a huge PITA to me.

I think you can do the same from places like HD for returned power tools.

The stupidity of people should not, but does continue to amaze me.

Under the story in the link that you posted was this headline.

"Rapper Flo Rida accused Celsius — which Doja Cat called 'Flo Rida's energy drink' — of stiffing him on stock options and bonuses"

made me chuckle. "Flo Rida" Really?

Back on the Ice

It was almost three years ago I had the granddaughter to the rink and was having 'one last turn around the ice' when I hooked a skate in a crack( I think) and went down, aggravating the rotator cuff injury in my left shoulder. For the last couple of years I have set up a little 20 x 30 surface in the yard, but with new skates for Christmas, it was time to get her back onto the rink.I took my skates and laced up. Let me tell you, the first few minutes were shaky.
Like riding a bike. The muscles remember what to do.

Indeed but falling is still my worry. Every time my g'kids get out on the pond I'm sorely tempted to lace up but then I think about the consequence of going down.:(

oldE 01-07-2023 07:45 AM

Yeah. I don't bounce back as quick as I used to.
It was about 20 minutes in before I was comfortable enough to cross over, skating through the corners. A couple of times I wound up to about 3/4 speed. Man, it felt good.
I was just thinking: it was just after that fall three years ago I started to get my weight back down. I'm over 30 lbs lighter than I was back then. :)

Have to.

Remember reading the insurance life expectancy of a Kawasaki Ninja MC owner if 16 years old was measured in hours.

The origin of The Addams Family came from this 1938 cartoon in The New Yorker drawn by Charles Addams.

Fell asleep on the couch after the game. I was awakened by my dog Oneal sticking her nose under my hand and giving me the sign that she needed to go out. So. I sat up and realized that it was just a dream. Oneal has been gone nearly 10 years now. It's 0420 here in Flatty land and i miss my dog.

oldE 01-10-2023 02:04 AM

Doesn't our heart hold on?

The dog will never really be gone as long as you hold the memories.

I'm sorry, Flatty, it's definitely tough. We're still missing our pup that crossed the rainbow bridge this past summer.

Is anyone else seeing an uptick in the amount of emails in your junk folder?
I used to get a couple a day, but since just before Christmas it has really ramped up.
The whole "your package can't be delivered" or other just junk that I never used to get.
On the other hand, spam phone calls have dropped to near zero for me, so I'll take that as a fair trade.
