What is the consensus on mandatory vaccines?

Z what about people that caught covid the ole natural way. Still requiring a covid vaccine private or not is a very very bad thing for the individual. I feel the 1A with "religion" will be common exemption should anyone make it mandatory.... Nevermind the sci.

The religious exception isn't granted very often. If you use it you must practice the religion.

As has been pointed out, the horse has left the barn crossed the pasture and galloped over the hill on that question.

The numbers so far predict the vaccine has saved 280,000 lives and over 1 million hospitalizations.

I am also of the frame of mind that if you opted out then stay home so the rest of us can get along with the business of returning to as much normal as is possible.

There are a lot of vaccine requirements that have come out in the last month. Some require vaccine. Some place restrictions, masking, or frequent testing for unvaccinated
NYC employees
California state employees
Many hospital systems
VA employees
Military Times reports Armed Forces requirement as soon as Sept 1st. When full approval is granted.
NFL coaches and staff. Unvaccinated players subject to strict protocols and testing. Fines if protocols are broken. NFLPA has agreed with protocols and fines.

Once they receive full approval the flood gates are going to open.

Many millions cannot get the vaccine. Allergic reactions or other medical reasons, religious beliefs. They are only protected by others being vaccinated. My nephew is one with many allergies. He nearly died from an antibiotic as a baby (ear infection). He has yet to be vaccinated. He may get the Novavax when it gets it's EUA.

Breakthrough cases are generally mild and viral load should be far less than an unvaccinated person. Not enough current data to prove if that is the case.

In time everyone who wants to be vaccinated will have been vaccinated and the 5% or 10% who don't want to be will probably be alright. Unless a 5%-er goes drinkies with another 5%-er at the 5%-er's club.

While on this subject my sister pleaded with me not to get vaccinated next Tuesday.

So the 5%-ers will either be fine or will die, and the rest of us will be fine once we are all vaccinated.

Va only offers 5 hours of free leave for fully vaccinated.

Reinfection with the delta variant is so far not deadly to the the vaccinated, but it can make us sick. I don’t want to get sick for no good reason. So yes, make the deniers stay home and watch Fox. Let the rest of us go about a normal life.

To answer the OP, businesses should not be prohibited from requiring vaccination of employees or customers. Vaccine “passports” should be legal in every state.
