Compression check thoughts…

I did a compression check on the 05 BMW 330ci today and wanted your thoughts.

1 and 6 look close, as does 2-5.

Those numbers look pretty good to me.
How many miles on the engine?

With the ticking/tapping noise at part throttle over 2600 rpm, I’m just looking into the health of the engine.

I’m about to dig into replacing the lifters.

If you did a top engine clean with a BMW approved cleaner, those numbers will move closer together.....

That’ll have to wait until I reassemble it next weekend. I did run two quarts of ATF for a few mikes and some idling last weekend.

Edit: I probably should’ve gotten a new compression tester, as that one is at least 40 years old.

Those numbers at 178k? You’re showing off.

I had a PPI on a BMW I-6 and noticed a similar pattern - cyl 1 and 6 similar and higher than cyl 2-5 which were consistent with each other.

Is that common with inline 6 engines or with BMW 6 cyl?

I wish I could post a gif or video of the chain ramp that the tensioner presses on. It has a wobble, instead of only side to side movement Am I thinking right?
