What's the most economical way to print 1500 pages ?
I have downloaded five PDF files to my laptop , they are John Deere owners and repair manuals for mid 80's garden tractors . It is 226.86 MB of data and is 1,524 pages in total . I can download all the data onto a USB flashdrive . What is the most economical way to get these hard printed ? In a perfect world they would be spiral bound or maybe three hole punched .
We don't have an office supply store in our small town just a UPS store . But 15 miles away is a large town that probably offers stores like Office Depot and similar . I have an old inkjet printer that works but not sure that's a good way to go .

That is a lot of pages for an ink jet.
Around here they charge about a dime a page. I'd call around. |

Poke around for a Kinkos or even a FedEx store in the area. The can print it, and put it in a spiral bound notebook. I assume there are chapters, so you could have several hundred pages in one volumes. The automated equipment they have is far easier and will print them front and back and save paper.
You likely can upload the file to them, and just go pick it it when done. The FedEx stores around here all have some nice printing equipment. Even Office Depot, Office Max, or a printing company can do it.

No disrespect intended here, but why? Can't you just access the info you need from the laptop?

Exactly. I put stuff like that on a tablet and take it to the garage. Or like someone else said, just print the pages I need for a specific task. Half those pages are going to be BS you’ll never need. At $0.10 per page, it’ll add up quick.

I have a lot of my information on my iPad in the garage. But if my hands are greasy and gross, or if I am wearing gloves a iPad is not a good choice to look something up.
I have paper manuals for the 911 and the EL Camino on my book shelf in the garage. Most manuals in digital forms are scans of the original manual, so there is no way of searching the scans for words used in the text. All my manuals have some greasy fingerprints on the sections I use the most.

Buy a used laser printer. Or send it to a print shop and have it mailed to you.
Or, use your inkjet printer to print pages as you need them.

I find that trying to find/search for specific items is a pain in the butt . That's why I am wanting to print them. And as already stated having greasy grimy hands and using a tablet not the best mix . Plus I am guilty of being old school 😁

I don't know about other brands...but my Epson ink jet would likely need 4 or 5 cartridges to print that many pages.

![]() That is what I do for out of print manuals. I also have an old iPad I use up at the barn that can view pdf's and whatever else I need. Much easier. All current manuals are in three ring binders. I bet you it would be cheaper to order the manual online, btw.

My wife uses Office Depot or Staples to run off copies of her sewing machine manuals so they can be spiral bound. Makes it a lot easier for her to flip the pages so they'll lay flat while she is using them.

Ask a friend if you can borrow their printer
![]() What I usually do is print the pages from the PDF for the thing I'm working on. Right now I'm working on a Case skid steer. I printed the pages for the steering servos. The rest is irrelevant.

Find a photocopy shop that advertises "as low as Two cents per page".

During my undergrad the books we would be required to buy were loose leaf (before online text books were really big). Drop the sucker off at kinkos and let them spiral bound it for a few dollars. I will never 3 hole punch a text again.... Uni's have a printing shop as well that are very comparable to kinkos.
