Switzerland is known for underground air force bases and artillery hidden inside little pink houses. In the US there are underground railways connecting DC/NYC/Denver Int. and across the entire country. Our enemies probably built them for us using subsidiaries.

Is this a qanon conspiracy? There are underground railroads connecting DC to NY and Denver? The only Underground Railroad I know about is from the slavery era.

Sometimes the US wants their potential adversaries (and the US public) to know certain information.

These things often fall into the categories of capabilities and/or deterrence. Sometimes it is also to emphasize to the US public that we really do "have our eye on the ball".

And the prior comment about the Russians already knowing is likely correct. Once we know that they know, why not make it public? This can also be a way of telling the Russians that we know that they know.

When it comes to national defence and international relations, there is a very multi-layered game going on.

All of this. Can also be done to to divert their attention away from what actually going on. Moves like this are like 5D chess. You can’t just look at the substance of what was released, and those of us in the public are only seeing one plane of the chess board.
