It's official: the car of my dreams is here... The GT4RS
Not that the vast majority of us could get a slot to buy one even if we had the money but the fact that you can go to the Porsche website and spec one out is pretty cool!

It is a cool vehicle. I might even trade straight across for my 85 911.

It took decades, but what used to be an obvious family resemblance from 911 to 911 has pretty much faded (or is fading) into oblivion.
Not that this isn't an amazing looking car ... _

Which explains the lack of resemblance to the 911, duh! ![]() That aside, I kind of feel like it's closer to a classic 911 than a modern 911 is. Although I'm sure the folks that were enthusiasts when the 911 came out probably viewed it a lot like a lot of us view the modern 911, a formidable machine that's big and heavy and more of a GT car than a sports car.

From what I have seen so far this car is way better than I expected it to be. First time Porsche has let a lower model have what the upper models have. I figured it would have just been a GT4 with a tune and some extra aero and weightloss. It's so much more. Didn't see this coming, looks incredible.

I've now read that Porsche is not making a limited number and will produce them through the end of the current Cayman model run so maybe you could actually buy one if you can wait. Let's see, if I put off retirement for an additional 2 years...

I saw that last night. No way I could afford it. If I could, I would prefer a wing delete model. My Cayman was fun with 290 hp. It would scream with almost 500.

I think we will see them floating around once the hype dies down. Hearing that right now dealers are asking for a 50k premium just order one. But once the idiots that are willing to pay that have cycled through, is regular joes will be able to pick one up for sticker or used. Crazy car and I can’t believe they actually built it.

sure, but Porsche has been Racing the Super Cayman RSR's with a great deal of success in the last 3-4 years. the fastest Porsche in GT PRO has a mid engine, so it's not a 911 either.
This one , Winning, Mid Engined. ![]() So what's yer point?

Quote:
If Porsche called it a 904 it would be a 904. Engine placement is irrelevant to the name Porsche sticks on it. Of course they have raced the 911 since the 1960s, and it is the standard race platform. It has won more times at Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring than any other car.

$143K MSRP is a bargain. If you can get it at that price. I mean some GT4s from 2016 are still selling at or very close to MSRP. It's sad really. Less than 20K miles for 5 year old cars.

Not for me. I'd have it upside down, and down a bank on the way home from the dealer.
