Those are points for a season long championship/placing, not per race.

I'd agree F2 has more bias than Indy but the full F2 calendar is run only on F1 circuits F2 and F3 are traditionally the stepping stones towards F1 and both are FIA sanctioned so no surprise there is more bias towards F2 Herta has 32 points and 40 are required, quite a few points shy, due to COVID he was even given an extra year to earn enough points There is still a slim chance Herta is racing in F1 next year, I read he may compete in the Formula Regional Asian Championship which finishes on the 2nd week of Feb. |
Got it. Thanks. So if F2 and Indycar points were awarded equally, he'd have 71 points. + he's won the Daytona 24 Hr twice. Oh well, not going to happen.

Weird looking track. I guess for a street circuit, options are limited. I just want to find out how business as usual can go on for the non race fans at the hotels inside the track. |
That's a terrible looking track. Turn 1 is a hairpin? That's gonna be a disaster on the first lap. Or maybe that's the intent. Maybe T5 is a passing opportunity. The serpentine run from T5-9 should be enjoyable to drive, but it'll be tough to pass or set up a pass going into 9. The long straight into 11-12 will give a good passing opportunity. There are 2 "driving" parts of the track, T1-4 (which will be slow) and T5-9. The rest of it's pretty much point and shoot. But yeah, not a particularly pretty looking track.

The guy in the lead of current F2 - am I reading it correctly that he is the only driver this season to compete at each event? I’m thinking that entire series needs help. Maybe the third driver for each f1 team gets a ride to help with comparisons/publicity/interest?

Alfa Romeo has extended Zhou's contract for one year . Only seats left are Haas/Williams/Alpine .
|
Several F1 websites are stating that DeVries has signed a deal with Alpha Tauri . That then allows Gasly to sign with Alpine to be announced next week .

I hope K Mag can hold on to fastest lap at Singapore 2018 at 141.905

My son just showed me a revision to the Vegas track design. Now, instead of T6 being a flowing double-apex left hander, the second half of the corner will feature a chicane. That's terrible. Take the one flowing part of the track (T5-9), and mess it up with a fiddly chicane.

He can go as fast as he wants, we'll just steal the trophies from him after! Quote:

That was an interesting qualyfying session . Congrats to the pole winner . Let's hope for a good race tomorrow . Did RB screw up Max's fuel load ? He was on a flyer then told to box .

And Mercedes and Hamilton will go broke in a few thousand years with those 25 Grand penalties if they keep getting them every race. I assume FIA figures a piece of metal stuck through body parts is not a safe thing in fires or crashes. Just make Hamilton sign a release in public, with fans and the press watching saying he assumes all responsibility for any injury caused by a body piercing. That way he can't sue if some unfortunate accident is worsened by his piercing. He knows the risk, and his jewelry is more important to him than his safety. It sure will not harm anyone else. Let him take the risk on his own, and no possibility to sue. |
Heavy rain right now close to start time, may not see a race at all by look of this
|
Rain has stopped and track cleanup has started . May be a time limited race .
|
Nice drive by Checo. He won it in the drag to the first corner, but then he didn't make any serious mistakes the rest of the time. Even Lewis and Max did in the slippery conditions.
|
Great drive by Checo . Horrible race for Alpine and Williams . Just a matter of time before Max wraps up the championship . Was pleased to see Danny Ric with a solid race result .

During the three-week break, Red Bull engineers attended a Race Management Strategy conference hosted by Ferrari…lol |
Our DVR (Dish Network) didn’t record the race. Anyone else experience this? It can’t even find ESPN now. BLOODY HELL!
|
Wow, what a hard race for the drivers.
The long rain delay and then all the safety cars. Congrats to the winner, he for sure drove the best race of his life. When drivers like Hamilton whack the barrier, and Max way overcooks a braking point he just drove like a pro. And Ferrari managed to NOT shoot themselves in the foot. The race started over an hour late because of the rain. My DVR recorded in just fine, but I did add 3 hours to the end of the race to be 100% sure it was going to record it all. Of course just as they are about to start interviews ESPN pulled the plug. Likely to show the high school cornhole championship games or a replay of the women's tennis match from 1991. |
Good race but pretty weird how the track is so slow to dry.
I’ve been very pleased with YouTubeTV. It records everything I ask it to plus other things it thinks I want to. If a race i usually watch is on a channel I didn’t pick it still records it. |
Checo gets a 5 second penalty for not being close enough to the pace car . WTF over ? But gets to keep his win .
|
He had over a 6 second lead.

That track stinks, also shows you without DRS, F1 is just a train from qualifying to race…

Sucked hard for racing. |

Like the qualifying, that had to be exceptionally hard for the drivers and made for good watching from the fans. I can't imagine pushing to the limits on a wet track, with concrete walls just inches from the edge of the track. Yea, the track sucks and there will always be multiple safety car sessions. Personally, I did not miss that track over the last few years when it was not on the schedule. I honestly prefer the traditional tracks. However, Vegas next year should be spectacular. This year's Miami race was pitiful, racing in a parking lot is as silly as the fake marina they built. |

Every year they need to pick a race and spread a little oil on a few corners without the driver's knowledge just to keep them on their toes. .

Yesterday, I'm sure ESPN was crapping themselves since the race went super long. The scheduled show was "Fantasy Football" something or another. Really, Fantasy????? I do fantasize about something but it isn't sports. Quote:

While it sucks that ESPN cuts it off shortly after the end of the race (“continued live coverage on ESPN3” which YouTubeTV doesn’t carry), I do enjoy the fact that the full race is run without commercial interruptions, or split screen coverage with commercials on half the screen. By comparison, NBC Sports and CBS Sport race coverage just sucks. |

I find Indycar and IMSA enjoyable to watch on Peacock via Hulu . Having said that I try to purchase Mother's products because of their F1 TV sponsorship .

In Canada it seems TSN goes to commercial as soon as pit stops begin. Split screen but it ruins it. Surely a better job could be done here.
