Two of the most funny tv sitcom series of all time Sanford and Son and All in the family. PC people's heads would literally blow up from the confusion of what content they show. To me it's funny as hell, and the less censored, the better!

It is the video montage style of editing. Or was that Miami Vice?

Either way, enjoy Pam...

wow. some of you all are going WAY back to a series!!

you almost need a click-dial channel changing TV built into a wooden console/cabinet to get the right feel.

i cant go way back because i dont think the show is any good anymore. i wouldnt make it past a single episode of Fall Guy. haha.. TJ Hooker. nope.

I had never really watched the original Magnum but got through it when it was available on Prime last year. I was surprised at how gritty some of the episodes dealing with PTSD, suicide, etc. got. For every one of those there was 1-2 very cheesy ones but all in all, I enjoyed it. Seeing a young Sharon Stone in an 911 was a treat.

I do remember watching the ovalish/rectangulary grey-y tube about 10” across with a Bakelite bezel surrounded by a wooden cabinet about the size of a small refrigerator by candlelight because lightbulbs weren’t invented yet.

Does anyone remember the "clack clack" remotes? (clicker remote)

Our first color TV had one.

I remember those!

‘Space Commander 600 Color TV by Zenith’

My rich uncle lest us turn the channels just to show off. IIRC you still had to manually turn it on/off.

Yes, some of us go back to when the kids were the "clicker", you had 3 channels, 4 if you counted PBS.

Funny thing, the only western I liked as a kid was Wild, Wild West, but lately have been drawn into the black and white westerns already mentioned, plus shows like Mr Lucky,
Honey West (you got to love a lady who drives an AC Cobra.

And Peter Gunn, (one of the best theme music of all shows)

Our first color TV had one.

Our first color TV was one mom bought in 1967 while dad was on remote TDY (temporary duty) in Korea. That is the same remote we had. Dad was gone for 18 months. Only letters that took a month to get back and forth and not other communications back then.

Anyway he came home and teased us all about being too lazy to get up and change the channel. Two days later I saw him on the couch using his toe to change the channel. He was too lazy to sit up to get the remote in in hand. He adopted to remote control quickly.

That TV was one we learned to turn off manually at the set. The remote used an audio tone. Our dog's tags could turn on the set while we were gone. We came home several times and the set was on and we knew it was off when we left. We could jingle the car keys and make the TV do random things. It was fun to mess with my brother when he was trying to watch some show.

tuning tv channels with a rolling wheel to tune

and electric contact control buttons on the tv
cannot find example, but it was like two metal dimples and your finger would short em, and that changed to the channel

like 10 channels

Come on, this is all Baz. Where is he? Watching old westerns, I guess.

I read through the list of shows mentioned and for one, if they had 'canned' laugh tracks, I can't watch. It insults me. However, the level of writing on most just didn't come across once filmed. That is if the writing was any good to begin with.

A few years back some PBS channel was running episodes of Ozzie and Harriet. Now Ricky is who I identified with, so if there was ever a favorite show....

Couldn't do it after half dozen shows. Tried Beaver and shut it off by the first break where there would have been a commercial. I know people swear by Seinfeld, the "show about nothing." That's what it became after the first year for me and I don't wish to visit again. If I did, I would have to see Kramer do the sock slide through the door.

The laugh tracks are really awful and I thank everyone who pointed that out to me.

Now I can’t watch anymore, either.

What is fun is to watch the shows and pretend there is no laugh track. Just intentionally ignore them if you can. What I discovered is many of the jokes aren’t funny and the actors have to sort of freeze for just a second or two to fit the track into the action.

Also, the older shows which are really bad for this, seemed to never make new tracks so you hear the same guffaw from the same guy allota times.
