I know of two different guys (not me!) that got an air cooled 911 home after purchase, and thought oil change! And they put the 5 quart oil pan they have used for years under the oil tank and have a 1 inch flow of scalding hot oil gushing out, overflowing, down the driveway, and all the way in front of the house to the neighbors house before they get enough kitty litter to stop the flow.

One of they guys is a great story teller, and can have other guys rolling on the floor in laughter with his tales of the oil spill from his 911 oil change.

The main idea of the tool is to keep your hand from having to touch a super hot piece of steel and oil and retaining the drain plug. It's still going to need some cleanup.

Just did an oil change on my sons Maserati. . After removing the 40 bolts holding the bottom engine cover on place.... stuck my huge drain pan under the engine offset to the side and down wind. Removed the side plug, oil shot over and past the drain pan hitting the inner wheel and tire. Dumping about 2 quarts all over my driveway. Never seen oil shoot out that hard.

I remember my first 911 oil change. I bought a 12 count case of oil and after dumping all of it in, it didn’t register on the dipstick. Added a few more quarts and no dice. I finally called around and found out you have to run the engine to check the oil level. There are probably a few of us here, that have done that.

I know this Honda CRV and had no problems with oil shooting out hard.

It was just coming out regular so no real mess to speak of.
