That would be a very different experience...like a 912 vs a 930.

^^^ Those are really cool and rarely seen these days!! The US only got the non-turbo so not much power there, but still has that great 5-cylinder sound. Seems like a good price if it's as good as it looks.

Maybe a project car to wind up with something like this

If I was younger I would be all over that Audi I listed . But my car project days are in the rear view mirror . I enjoy and maintain what I have .

^^^ Thanks. Hope all is well!

I'm trying to reeducate myself on these cars It's been 6-7 years since I've owned one and much is forgotten. Came across this old pic of the turbo setup when we were building the engine for the rally car Must resist modifying the new 83 ....

Still one of my all time favorite cars, LOVE ‘80s box flares. I flirted with both a UrS4 and UrS6 at various points, the 5-cylinder makes all the right noises.

Interesting that you'd rather have an F40 than an F1.

The legos are great!

The Lego thing is hilarious

So I drove about 900 miles to Virginia to pick up my 83 last week. The general awareness of the Ur quattro seems significantly greater than even 7-8 years ago when I last owned one. After loading it I stopped at a gas station a half mile from the house to triple check the trailer and straps. Before I even opened the door, there was a UPS guy standing there, probably early 40s. I got out and he said, 'I can't believe I'm seeing a real quattro!!! This is crazy! I've never seen one other than pictures.' Went on to have a 15-minute discussion. He was more than a bit disappointed when he found out the car was behind a house on his delivery route for the past 4 years From there, every stop we made there was one or more people asking about the car. It wasn't like that 7-8 years ago.

I'd be shocked as well if anyone knew what they were looking at! Where in VA was it stashed? I moved from VA to FL as well.

Sitting in a carport near Williamsburg for the past 4 years. But I knew the 20+ year owner of the car before that in Michigan. The guy put 10 miles on it in 4 years - that is NOT a good thing. This was almost like a barn-find rescue. It's going to take some work to get it back to where it was and beyond. I'm going to try to get it started tomorrow.

Dang! We weren't too far from Williamsburg, just east of Hopewell on the south side of the James River. Sounds like a great project, keep us posted!
