It's an electroless nickel and teflon finish by Robar, which no longer offers it to individuals. They're 10 min. from my house, but only do gov't. contracts now. And I don't think they've started to license it out to others yet. So it's unobtanium for anyone who doesn't already have it on their gun. This is one I had them do a while back.

Rick: I learned something. Nice unique piece.
Jeff: I love the way they mark the #1 chamber. I'm trying to think how I can do that to my existing cylinders even though I don't need the empty chamber.

I disagree sir tabsdoulla. I was able to visit the Sig center here in NH and got to play with a lot of the locally-manufactured stuff. Quite good indeed.

And wasn't it full auto. She pulled the trigger and with every round the gun climbed over her head until it was pointed behind her.

What are good prices for Sig 226 (9mm), Sig 229 (9mm), and Sig 220 (.45)?

All over the map. German or US made? SAS, rail, stainless, nickel, two tone? I have seven of the old W. German ones at the moment. Hard to find them anymore for under $800, even beaters. The US ones can sometimes be had cheaper, especially if police turn-ins. Cheapest one I ever snagged was a P226R for $495. Oh no, wait. I got a P229 police turn-in for $395 from CDNN. Both I sent to Robar for NP3. But you'll not find those deals anymore. You just cannot beat the old W. German-stamped classic P-series guns. Nothing better out there.

Sure I didn't limpwrist but many people who tried it had stove pipes with it. Just standing and shooting, nothing dynamic.. Lets say you need it in a hurry, and you are incapacitted some how. You want a gun that will cycle no matter what, no matter how hot or cold or old your ammo is that P232 won't. It was nice looking, but to be fair I think it was overengineered. too many little parts and springs.. I'de be hesitant to ever again pay the additional cost SIGs go for. it shot like an extension of my hand.. natural aim. on the move, draw, blamblam at 15 yards I'de have the first little left and low and follow up smack center. It was very pretty to, but Never trusted it because I knew it would stovepipe in certain situations... ![]()

I also know that there are basic and more premium models. I guess I was thinking something like "Basic US models probably start at $xxx these days and go up from there" etc... Presumably, finding anything @395 or 495 these days is highly unlikely.

A couple of years ago there was a glut of surplus 220s on the market (and 226 and 229), a buddy who moved this time last year was wanting to sell a 220 he refinished (nicely) for $500. Hit me a PM if you want me to reach out to him (he's a few hours away, but USPS delivers!)

Mr. Higgins MADE me buy a Ruger Vaquero (he insisted on stainless and .45 Colt) many years ago.
He was right. It is the most practical weapon I own.

Funny you would say that about your 686. My S&W's have about the best factory trigger pulls I've ever seen. My Python is right up there with them, and all are better than anything possible in any single action. The geometry, leverage, hammer fall, and all of that are superior in those double actions, leading to inherently better trigger pulls. I wonder what's up with your 686...

My newest -
Pair of Diana Mod 5 Luftpistoles I found the post-war history fascinating, factory was bombed to bits and the Brits took what was left (tooling and trademarked name "Diana") as reparations which MilBro bought and commenced manufacturing in Scotland. Apparently Diana quickly rebuilt the factory in Rastatt Germany and continued designing and manufacturing air guns. But, they could not use the "Diana" name outside Germany (sold private labeled by Winchester, Hy Score, "Original" and RWS). The wood gripped Mod 5 is fairly rare. Newly designed post war and only produced from 1958 to 1962. The gray plastic gripped Mod 5 followed (mines dated 1968) then a brown plastic grip through the 70's. I re-sealed both (fairly easy) as the original main seals turn to dust. Fantastic shooters! ![]() ![]() I think their logo is pretty cool, Diana, Greek goddess of the hunt, tossing her bow and arrow to the ground, raising a rifle. ![]() ![]()
