My small hot-rod / hobby shop is self supporting, I buy, sell, fix and flip. I buy what I like, do a little or sometimes a lot of work then flip. I am moving in a different direction in the last year where I am moving towards consulting / advising / with some hands-on problem solving.

I'm targeting affluent people in my area, in the hobby that often is looking for a 'guy' to help them maintain, improve, etc. It's like planting seeds. I've had a few small jobs as I've limited so I can finish my rat-rod project to sell.

Used to be the farm - did very well for a long time...while I still materially participate for tax purposes, I am working a lot less. Now horse boarding and a rental house.

Mostly for taxes and some supplimentary income.

I like to see if anyone will give me a part time job teaching high school age kids carpentry, woodworking, general construction or architecture after I retired. Other then that, rentals keeps me a little busy. Nothing needs to be fixed since they are all fixed to the best of my knowledge. Maybe I can work in a coffee shop over seas targeting English speaking tourists for very little money? Live there for 3 months and come home do it again somewhere else next year?

It's getting hard to find a school that still teaches wood shop or "manual arts" anymore, at least outside of a rural area.

Adjunct professor with the Naval War College, teach at the Washington Navy Yard. Teaching evening seminar to mid-career Officers: Navy, Coasties, Capitol Hill staffers (HASC/SASC), they're all whip smart, keeps me engaged.

Rental property.
Bought a fixer upper.
Fixed it up while I lived there.
After a couple years I bought another and rented out the first.
Lather rinse repeat.
At one point I was paying less than 800 per month total for 5 houses.
Then a few years ago started selling off a few.
Now up to 14 properties most of which are paid off.
Primary residence is set to be paid off in 8 years when I retire.
Always tell this story to younguns and recommend they buy a house.
Get a roommate or two if you have to.

I've always been impressed by the diversity and knowledge of the folks on Pelican over the years. From all kinds of backgrounds and areas of expertise....

Most here seem to have "figured it out", while following a path that works for them....

Pretty awesome

Not really a side hustle, but more of a hobby as time permits, I restore wheels and certain aluminum automotive parts (mostly for friends). Its dirty work and requires a respirator but I've gotten quite good at it.

I recently finished this for a good friend:

Same for me, We're in Agricultural Preserve and need to have a set amount of income to maintain it to save a bunch on taxes.
