In a past life I used to be a picture framer and still have the guillotine and stuff.
If my workshop ever gets finished I might do some framing. Easy peasy and pays well. |

Turtle Pimp...although it's real tough to tell the males from the females.
It doesn't pay well either.

Deputy Coroner. I wasn't looking for a retirement job, but my friend got elected Coroner and had no help. He was running 24/7. I said I'd help out until he got organized. That was almost 8 years ago.
Business varies, but I've made over $2,400 in the past 2 weeks (Main pay is per call; standby pay is very low). People are dying to see me.

I am sometimes asked to consult in labor relations and labor law. I am not an attorney, but I do have substantial expertise in certain areas. But....
....I do not need the money and I retired with the intention of NOT working. But I will sometimes offer my expertise. Like right now, the affordable housing industry in my state will benefit from some coaching in expectation of an upcoming event which will substantially affect their important industry. I am going to support them. But right now, I will work on some bass guitar cover songs. Like Mr. Lee, I play seedy gin joints so that I can scoop up $60-$80 by hauling, setting up and tearing down thousands of dollars of gear, working several hours and getting home at 3 am.

I have done woodworking on the side at times - but not much recently - by choice.

Twist wrenches now and again. Cars, pick-ups, 1 tons, and construction equip.
Also run and excavator for a friend once in a while. Actually did some driveway drainage today. Should finish it up tomorrow before the snow flies on Wed.

For decades, my side hustle was hanging out in seedy dive bars until 2am drinking beer and listening to blues & rock....
Now it pays REALLY well.... not to do that ![]() |

I used to do virus removal and some hardware fixes on computers for a few people but I finally got them all trained to avoid most problems. Last year I fixed up three riding mowers that I got for free and made good money selling them on the net. Fixed one last week for someone but it was for a buddy so no cash but will get a lunch out of it. I really need something to keep me busy this winter or my car will get a big cam that it doesnt need.

I work part-time for the State Athletic Commission regulating pro boxing, MMA, and kickboxing events throughout the state. It is the best job ever! After I retire from my full-time job, I plan on committing to become a UFC referee.
Great times!

Was making an extra 10 or 20K a year buying and flipping a few cars per year for many years before the pandemic. Have only purchased 1 car in the last 2 years though. I have also remodeled a few kitchens and baths over the years when I get talked into it

My side hustle is making cash disappear
I am very good at it, but its not very profitable since I am my only customer. The business can really kick off, just need to find me a couple of millionaires to add to my portfolio.

About the time I turned 15 I figured out that the 18 to 20 year old girls were the hot ones. They all ignored me. 50 years later I realize I was very right, as I still think the same thing and they still totally ignore me.

My side hustle, if you can call it that, has always been residential real estate. First in Seattle, now in Spokane. Bought this in 2016 and spent a few years managing it myself.
Fixing some things, turning tenants over, etc. For the first time in 35 years, I've hired a property manager right before the pandemic. I'm done trying to keep up with landlord tenant law and weekend calls to unplug toilets. ![]()

as i stated in the post that inspired this thread, i build ice racing bolted studded tires. they produce fantastic grip, like 1.0+ lateral G on ice. they are used for ice autocross and racing here in the midwest. I'd been building them for years myself, and decided i didnt have much to do in the october - early january time frame, so i might as well make a few sets for folks and a few bucks on the side.
i have a pretty mechanized system at this point. each stud still needs to be fabricated, and then installed, but ive developed jigs for almost every step so that i can do i fast, accurately, and painlessly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y12Rbuj3E2M ![]() |

What a fantastic thread!!!
I was looking into becoming a dealer for my favorite shotgun brand but I think this economy is getting to a point where 5 figure clays guns are gonna be a hard sell. Also not sure i want to carry a 6 figure inventory while interest rates are so high. Have always wanted to get some commercial office cleaning work going after hours, might have to look into that. Did that sort of work with my mother in the leanest of times as a teenager so we'd have a roof over our heads. I think banks, doc offices, etc pay a premium for trustworthy people and surely you can't get much better than a licensed CPA!
