What is China really doing with Covid?

You know this Rick, even most Chinese Americans are surprisingly apolitical and often supportive of the CCP. Quite a few move back after decades in the US. This was an eye opener to me. Usually not at all the case with other cultures that have a despot on the helm in their homeland. Iranians come to mind for example.

Lots of rumours flying. Some that CCP will double down on ZC, others that CCP will pivot and claim success by keeping Covid out of China until the virus became benign (which is false but whatever). Much bigger police presence now, protests seem to be mostly suppressed for now.

Two things CCP-affiliated Twitter acvounts now saying

“The new Omicron variant is spreading fast,pushing adjustment in COVID response in many parts of China.China's current rate of severe cases is about 0. 025%.Most Chinese people are no longer afraid of being infected.China may walk out of the shadow of COVID-19 sooner than expected.” Global Times

“Frequent PCR #Covid tests are unnecessary for people such as the elderly who spend most of their time at home and students taking online classes as they face low risks of getting the virus, according to a*commentary*by Xinhua News Agency.” Xinhau

Looks like hints that CCP planning to drop ZC policy.
