Any thoughts on GM turning the Corvette name to a standalone brand?

New products in 2025 will be a Crossover SUV and a 4 door coupe, according to CarandDriver.com

Both EV's.

(I have opinions. Mostly along the lines of Ugh. But I had the same thoughts when Porsche decided to build an SUV, and now I'd have one. It's the "EV part that makes me pause on this latest announcement.)

Agree with UGH

Of course they may build something cool like a Nomad ---but I doubt it

I find it interesting how manufacturers ride a brand. The Mustang Mach E is a good example, as is Dodge's use of the Charger name on everything from a front wheel drive sporty coupe to a four door sedan.
Now GM signals their intent to expand the Corvette line. I suppose they will sell every one they make to those who always wanted a Corvette but found they weren't practical for them.
Remember when almost half of the Oldsmobile lineup bore the name Cutlass?

It is… what it is.

People identify with brands. Let’s face it, the corvette has been hands down the best bang for your buck in a new track car for several years. You get a lot of car for the money. The rest of the GM lineup is ‘meh’ except for maybe the Camaro, and the Hummer EV.

I bet that the Corvette brand will be more appealing to those looking for an electric SUV than say Buick, Chevy, Cadillac, or GMC.

We rented a Buick SUV made in China a couple months back and it was not at all what I imagine when I think of the name ‘Buick’…

I bet that in a market study of those interested in higher end electric vehicles, those of the study group associated the corvette name with this market segment than GM’s other marques.

It will be the same GM SUV, just with a Corvette badge

Oh hell no, but what do I know? My favorite Corvettes range from 1963 to 1972, and a few in the 80s and 90s, like the ZR1 and Z06, that's about it.

As long as there's gonna be a minivan version, I'm fine with it!
