Airlines need to learn from Universal Studios

https://www.foxnews.com/media/universal-studios-new-mario-kart-ride-ripped-rules-restricting-plus-sized-visitors
Quote:
As Vaughn's video mentioned, Universal Studios' website says a "test seat" is available at the entrance so visitors can test whether their size will be accommodated on the actual ride.

"This ride employs safety restraints which may restrict certain guests from riding due to body shape and size," the guidelines read. "Guests whose waist line is at least 40" or greater may not be accommodated on the ride and are strongly encouraged to try the test seat provided at the entrance of the attraction to ensure their ability to ride."
Instead of
"You must be this tall to ride",
they have
"You must be less than this wide to ride..."

I used to have a TVR. If you were to wide, you couldn't close the door.

That included my boss.

We all understand a ride is designed for the median human size butt. From kids to geezers, they have to fit in the space as designed. The mass of the that human matters as well.

Yea, every airline needs a seat replica with seatbelts. If they can't fit, make it a two seat price. For a ride, that is not possible.

Plus size seats? Pay 1.5 x the price for taking up 1.5 x the real estate.

Or if you want to buy into the plus size clothing argument that the clothing should cost the same for all sizes and be averaged out to one price, make all the economy seats larger, have fewer of them and charge more for them.

Or make them sit in the cargo hold.

Right next to the kids that kick the back of your seat.

If you got to test the size of the seat before actually getting on the plane...

...no one would get on the plane. The only way they get us to accept those poor excuses for sitting locations is that we're trapped victims by the time that we get onboard.

I flew to Samoa, it was like 13 hours and I had 2 fat, obese, Samoans on either side of me. I went straight to the flight attendant and she came and looked at the seat space I had and found me a seat in 1st class. It was a great flight after that.

I agree 100% airlines need seats for that segment of society who look at the menu in a restaurant as a challenge; they should have to pay proportionately more for a seat.

We all know the airlines want to cram as many people on board as the cargo capacity will allow. I am a 6 foot tall typical American man. On the four legs of the fight to and from Dulles I booked an aisle seat. At lest I have one leg I can stretch out that way.

On all four legs of the flight, my shoulder was in physical contact with the four random men I sat next to. Not just close, but touching. And they were not obese men, just all seemed to be linebackers in the NFL size men. The seating areas are designed to accommodate 100 pound, 5 foot tall women and children.

Not meaning any insult...but the "typical" American man is now obese, unfortunately.

Airlines don't necessarily need to make their seats bigger (I'd like it; I'm also 6', 235) but Americans need to assess the way we're killing ourselves by being so fat.

No doubt many Americans as a whole are overweight from ideal. Look back at photos of people through history, and a 6 foot tall man was unusual. Now it is quite common.

The simple fact is human males are not all 5'6" 150 pounds like in the past. The airlines simply don't care a whit about passenger comfort. If you want to be comfortable, just pay the big bucks of first class. They make lots more money and you have to pay for the reality of human evolution.

I just avoid airline travel if at all possible. Not one thing about it pleasant. Especially the other passengers.

Yeah, I prefer to drive. Wife prefers to fly, unfortunately.

We've got a trip coming up going to Greece. I'm not looking forward to being stuck on the plane for most of a day. Kills my knees and my back.
