I like almost all Pink Floyd songs but I really dislike Money. I really don't like the Doors or the Police. No, I take that back, I hate the Doors. They are way before my time, but I just can't deal.

anything from INXS

Fleetwood Mac. After they added the female singers they went to hell.
|
Some good choices here. I can add Hotel California - overplayed and awful. One of my favorite albums is Desperado by the Eagles. It's not the group, it is just the song.

I Get Knocked Down by Chumba Wumba. I just want to give it a shot.
It is funny what triggers some of our reactions. I haven't heard that song in ages, but it popped into my head when I read the thread title. Many of the songs or groups mentioned are on my "Songs for the Asking " list. 200+ songs I can do for requests. When I was doing gigs at the Legion, I was surprised at the lack of appreciation for "Hallelujah ", as it was one of the most requested songs in the Bistro. Turns out everyone else was doing it and the regulars were tired of hearing it. After I that, I made sure about half of my set list was stuff they hadn't likely heard in a while. That worked. Blinded by the light be Manfred Mann.
That one song forced me to stop listing to radio. The last classic rock and roll radio station in our area always bragged about the huge library of records. Yet they played that song at least once and often twice per day. I turned off my radio and changed to Pandora. If Pandora plays a song I don't like, thumbs down and I never hear it again. In my cars I have all my CDs ripped to a 32 gig thumb drive, and they play in random order. If a song comes on that I don't care at the moment, poke a button and the next song is played. And Manfred Mann is not on there at all. |
Phil Collins songs. All of them. Every........single.........one.

Im so sick of Taylor Swift whining and whining.....
|
Ramblin man is super annoying too. The beginning is ok but the repetition at the end goes on and on. and the "I keep Bleeding" song by some lady on the pop stations. I call it the hemofelia song. I swear some of these modern singers are completely tone deaf I dont know how they managed to get famous. Theyre probobly just super hot.

They made one song and just retitled it. Agree just awful. Richard Marx is banned from all radios in my possession. Lawyers Guns and Money is truly terrible to add to the OP. Kokomo. Anything George Michael gives me the creeps now. Anything Springsteen thanks to him opening his mouth in politics (and being a complete fraud). Eminem. |
Sugar Shack. That's just the worst followed by hundreds.
Turned all tunes off a few years backs. Some Muscle Shoals blues once in a while. A little old jazz and some old, old country, but not bluegrass. |
I was hoping people would answer the question about songs you began to hate as opposed to never liked the band The OP gave an example that fits the theme.
My first car had AM radio. The local rock station would play American Pie 'constantly'. At first I liked it but because it was played so much and was 8 minutes in length, it became tiresome and just got 'sick' of hearing it amd grew to hate it. Many decades later, I enjoyed listening to it again. Basically, if you grew up listening to radio you would get tired to songs that were played to death. Hey Jude was another one because it was overplayed and just seemed to drone on and on. One star for all the posts that didn't answer the question. |
Christmas songs.

Went to a Collins concert years ago with a business associate. About halfway thru his set, I got poked and awakened by my wife. UGH!! Add Magic Man to my despised list. Way too much play when released. |
I'm not sure that there's anything that I've grown to hate. But there are certainly songs that I used to like, and probably could hear every day, but now, I may only like to hear them very rarely, and a lot of it is stuff that's been mentioned, Boston, Steve Miller, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc... I'm still OK with most of them, but there are stand-outs - Freebird, Fly Like an Eagle, Hotel Cali, Sweet Home Alabama, etc.... If those come on, there's a 50-75% chance that I'll skip them, but every once in a while, I'm happy to listen.

Almost forgot the pina colada song guy did another tune called telephone or something like that. It is truly offensive to the ears.
