I did IFly today…

My 9 year old daughter went to a friends birthday party about a month ago at the IFly. She really enjoyed it. They had a deal advertised on Facebook so we signed up our family of 4 and went today.

I don’t know how that place makes money.

The wind is 80-120 mph depending on how fat you are… the fans are mounted up top and the wind is circulated back around to the bottom so it gets that benefit.

It was a neat experience, we don’t need to do it again. I’m glad I did it and it was fun.

I did it once several years ago in Pigeon Forge. It was fun but by the time you get the hang of it, it is over. It would be a blast to have unlimited time in it. The one I was in uses an old DC3 prop to generate the air flow.

I've seen those and thought they would be a ton of fun. I went sky-diving once. The freefall portion of the jump was LOUD. I thought at the time that a full helmet, possibly with ear plugs would be a good thing. If you're thinking "how loud could that be?" Imagine sticking your head out of the window of a car going 120mph.

I’ve done it a couple times and think it’s a blast (no pun intended). I had one instructor show me if you just tilt your hands a little it rotates you, it’s amazing how subtle moves can make you move around.

I’d rather do this than the real thing

Would be nice if it were 5-10 mins.
Or enough time to be sick of it afterwards. For a while.
With go-karts your neck feels like it went through a wrestling match.

The iFLY experience lasts approximately an hour and 45 minutes in total.
Each flight within the wind tunnel lasts 60 seconds.

The real thing was very cool. First you got the super intense freefall portion. It was cool (temperature) and loud. But I think what I liked even more was the time after you popped your 'chute. It was VERY quiet and peaceful. There was very little noise other than the occasional noise from the 'chute.

But the ability to "fly" without having to deal with some of the other stuff would be amazing.

Here it is at the extreme end

I did it once. Nothing fancy as I didn't want to get into a free fall LOL but just gliding there going left and right, forward and back, was fun.
