Bye-Bye SC

Sometimes things just unexpectedly work out....
I've been thinking for a few months of selling one of the p-cars in my signature....need the garage space and trying to exercise two of them justly, is hard to do.

Two weeks ago, a guy (who lives two hours from me) spotted me with my 78SC and pulled in to talk about it. He asked if I'd consider selling and I shot him a price. Today he picked it up.

I have owned it for 23 years....it's been a great car.

Pics of in my garage, (can see my Carrera in the reflection) and pic of him driving away with it today.

I thought for a minute you were leaving South Carolina (SC)!

The economy of a thread title strikes once again......

^^^ You would think that most people on a Porsche site would know what an SC is.

Since you have a "backup" Carrera, sharing your SC with another owner is OK!

It is just astonishing what they are selling for. I saw a 84 Carrera sell for 81K and a 86 sell for 101K recently. I called my insurance agent and asked him to raise my agreed valuation up another 20K.

How many other toys can a guy buy that quadruple in value, as the most fun a man can have with clothes on, and are a joy to own. I still smile when I see it in the garage just walking into the house.

Considering UF just beat SC in baseball Super Regionals, are are now headed to the MCWS in Omaha......I guess SC was on my mind more than my SC - or yours - or anyone else's.....

Very true....even in the garage with the doors closed, it would look dirty two days after I cleaned it.
The white one can sit around a month without a wash and still look clean.

Yes, I never thought when I bought it 23 years ago that it would end up being worth as much as it turned into.

Thanks...some like, some hate the tail.
Most of the lookers (non owners) love it.
My Carrera has a duck-tail...most don't care for it.

I'm not sure I could have done this. Inevitable I guess.

I'm 70 years old...it's too time consuming to care for both of them...plus I have the Prelude and SI to keep in shape.

Yeah you have more toy cars than me and that is tough to do! I hear you on it being hard, I sold my '78 Westfalia earlier in the spring as I just was not driving it that much and with my kids being older camping in it versus my actual travel trailer was a pain.

Glad it went to someone who will hopefully appreciate it and not flip it.

One of the 911's I have had was an '86 cab. Can we get a picture of your Carrera with the duct tail?

I thought I'd been banned... lol

Nice car BTW. The best cars often change hands without advertising. All the best!

Thanks.
I was dreading the whole advertising thing....this just happened with no fuss.

Living where I do (in the northern sticks) placing a local ad for an older Porsche gets almost no attention. Everyone is looking for pick-ups.

Beautiful. And you are

Steve, I am a Targa man...that 78 is just terrific. If I decide to get another 911, it will be a Targa.

I felt a little sorry for your loss until you posted the pics of the Carrera.

You and SC enjoy your time together on the Island

It's said the world is divided into two groups.

Those who like ductails..........and those who don't.

Both my '73 911T and my '83 911 SC came with a ductail.

The 911T also had the original engine lid which I put back.

I had to buy one for my '83.

To each their own.....

Ducktails are a nice compromise from the huge whale tail or no tail. I like the ducktail.
Targa's are the same....open air without the 'see me all' of a drop top.
