Never stabbed in prison

So far, I've avoided being stabbed in prison. I don't know if I'm just lucky or maybe it's my superpower. Anyway, my fingers are crossed that I can continue my so-far unbroken streak of continuous un-stabbed in prison days.

Same for me, prison stabbing free. In fact, I have never been arrested, never ever even handcuffed.

I have owned my El Camino for 32 years. Never seen talked to a cop through the window. I was stopped once in my 911 and the cap said they had a APB out for a late model stolen 911. I explained that sir, this is a 1985 car and hardly late model. He then asked a bunch of questions about the engine, so I sowed him the engine, the interior, and told him about the Porsche club and our local events. He said he has always loved the look of the classic 911. So he really stopped me to cat me up about the 911.

No tickets for me since 1978 for 50 in a 45 zone.

There's a pod cast on Joe rogan where a lady in California with help from a corrupt DA wrongfully put away a guy that had a bad car deal. Guy is an amateur mma fighter and one of the prison gangs put a hit on him. Ends up fighting off two attackers and killing one. 2 years behind bars until released

Prisons in America are a death sentence at the best and slavery at its least. Correctional industrial complex is very real and is something that can happen to anyone.

I saw a guy get sentenced a few weeks ago for diddling his nieces/nephews, got 30 years IIRC.

We do victim impact statements after the sentence is announced (yes that is a bit out of order). At any rate, while one victim was speaking, I noticed two defendants wearing orange jumpsuits sitting in custody in the jury box. Pretty tough looking dudes. You could tell they were taking mental notes of this guys charges and were likely planning a good beat down on him once they got back to the county lockup.

I haven't been stabbed either but did get a tour of Leavenworth once. It's an odd sight to see old timers with walkers lining up for lunch at 10:30 am.

Back in the early 1970s the federal courts took over the Alabama prison system. They were massively overcrowded. 8 prisoners in a cell made for two. I was the photographer along with a reporter for Time magazine as the press got a tour of the prison.

I can tell you, I never had criminal tendencies, but hearing that massive steel door slam shut behind us was sobering. I was standing next to a guard, and a state trooper, and I knew for sure, I got to leave when the tour was over, but it is a kick in the nuts to hear and smell the place. Constant yelling and cussing and insults. One of my photos made it into Time for the article.

Next we toured the cafeteria. I will need to be really hungry to eat that slop. And the stench was just horrible.

After that, I have long said that "troubled youth" should be locked in a cell away from the prisoners, but fed the same food, and listen to the noise and smell the smells for 48 hours. Then have the judge explain, one more offense, and I will send you to that prison.

I was scared straight, and I was already straight as can be, and a very honest taxpaying citizen, and had no plans to ever be a criminal. I never spent a penny on dope of any kind. Beer was all I wanted. Still the same way.

That is a weird image. Are they segregated or just left alone because they are so old?

Leavenworth has the following:

Open two tiered cells with a huge common area in middle of that pod. Looks like a fed prison.

SHU - special housing unit. For guys that need segregation. There is a guy there that was on death row for killing a bunch of Soldiers at Fort Bragg prior to PT one morning. After his case was reduced from death to life he was moved to SHU to keep him from getting beaten.

Death row.

I guess the old timers are in a special ward but not real sure and I don't think anyone asked.

Never stabbed in prison

Getting stabbed doesn't always mean with a knife.

I was in San Quentin….. for a day. Played on a softball team that played there every year. I only went once and that was enough for me. We were playing the good inmates. The bad ones watched and they were some of the scariest men I have ever seen. Everybody should do it once.

I don't need to go to hell to know that I'd rather not go.

Imagine not being able to take a long walk with a dog at any hour of the day.
Frying up a thick steak and beverage with the company of friends.
Getting in the car or airplane and ditching for a long weekend vacation.
Going outside.
Not being trapped around this crazy psycho fker in the cell who you might have to kill some day and do the world a favor.

One other assignment for Time I did was going to the Federal prison on the base at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. Several of the Watergate folks were sent there. It is a total minimum security prison. If you have to go to prison, it is the place to go.

The prisoners can go fish in the Alabama River, or learn lawn care and golf course management. The "security" fence border is an chain from a battleship about a foot from the ground. Easy to step over, but when they catch you, it is off to a real prison.

Typical Army style bunks. We had a prisoner give us the tour. He said at first it is not bad, but all of a sudden it hits you that you HAVE to be in your bunk at light out, and you are not allowed out of the bunk house at night or off to real prison. He said you understand, you are in prison for the crime you committed. Freedom is extremely limited, and the though of the lost freedoms does weigh on you. That is the real punishment. He was convicted of bank fraud and had a 10 year sentence to serve.

Boy, I dunno... keep hanging out with shady bikers in Portland driveways and your luck may someday run out...
